I’m thinking about buing new uke, and I’m pretty much settled on Ortega Earth series, RUDAWN or RUFOREST to be precise. But I’m not sure if I should get acoustic or electroacoustic one, I’m kinda on the fence here. Electroacoustic is better because of the tuner, electronics and cutaway which I like the most. But on the other hand it costs 50% more than acoustic and I don’t have any musical equipment like amp, pedals or even external sound card, so I’d probably plug it directly to my PC via jack-jack or jack-USB connection, which isn’t that great from what I’ve read. So the question really is: is it better to grab that electroacoustic or stick with acoustic, considering I don’t really need that electronics.
I know it’s kinda subjective, just wanted to hear someone else’s opinion, what you guys think or what you’d do.

Well, don’t pay extra just for a built in tuner. You can easily get a decent clip on one for $20. As for the other concerns, I’m like you. I just play for myself and don’t really perform, so I don’t bother with pickups, etc. A cutaway might be good to have, though.

I’m with Robin. I don’t have electronics. I must admit, I’d be tempted to give it a try, but I’m not going to spend a fortune and do all kinds of homework on recording to record just for posting here. Clip on tuners are fine. A cutaway would be fun.

    Ortegas area pretty. Good luck.

Idk how to @ someone here lol. Thanks for replying guys, that built-in tuner actually doesn’t matter to me, I have gStrings on my phone and it’s more than enough. I’ve heard that you can use electronics to put some backing track and hear what you play alongside, so that’s what would appeal to me the most really. But yeah, the longer I think about it, the less I’m convinced I need that electronics. I’ll think it over, maybe instead of paying extra for that I’ll just get better quality acoustic, we’ll see, thanks anyways.
