“Wonder” – Rock Class 101

Below is the lesson for “Wonder” by Rock Class 101.

Helpful Tips

Learn a catchy melody that helps increase your fingerpicking speed! The goal of this piece, is to perform it with a tempo between 160 and 170 BPM (beats per minute). Now that can be quite daunting, but if we take a step back and examine the music, we’ll see that it sets us up for success.

For example, the A Melody is written with a repetitive fingerpicking and rhythmic theme. Touching on the latter, you’ll be playing either (in 3/4):

null

As seen in bar one: 1 2& 3

OR

As seen in bar two: 1 2 3

In regards to the former: On beat 1, you’ll either fingerpick or strum a double stop. A double stop refers to playing two notes simultaneously. The remaining beats will always be single note melody lines.

With these two areas staying so consistent, it allows our left and right hand to fingerpick with extreme efficiency.
