“Banana Pancakes” – Jack Johnson

Below is the lesson for “Banana Pancakes” by Jack Johnson.

Helpful Tips

I used ‘Poetic License’ on this arrangement and rewrote the melody to incorporate some ‘dreamy-esque’ chord changes. A backbeat (slap) occurs throughout most of this arrangement on beats 2 and 4. The most difficult part of this song are the quick chord changes. Breaking away from using only ‘cowboy chords’ (beginner forms of: G, C, Am, etc), the unique voicings’ of some the chords may be new to you. For example in the Verse, I would suggest learning the four main chords, strumming them once, and practice changing between them all. Do this before adding the ‘in-between’ melodies. I hope you enjoy this unique take on a Jack Johnson classic!
