A classic Christmas song, “O’ Christmas Tree” features two melodies. The first is relatively simple and straight-forward, but the second can be quite tricky. The second melody makes use of ‘voice leading’, where one chord changes to another by switching one or two notes by half or whole step while keeping common chord tones intact. This creates a pleasant movement in chords. Practice each chord change one by one and try to memorize the changes.
