Below is the lesson for “Under the Boardwalk” by The Drifters.

Helpful Tips

A fun fingerstyle take on a classic summer song! This arrangement is perfect for the seasoned intermediate player. The most challenging part is the use of muted strumming in the chorus. For example, take a look at bar 21 (the first bar of the chorus).

Listen to this bar:

The first half of the bar is a mix of fretted notes and muted strings. This is challenging to play because we have to mute two strings while letting two ring. In the lesson video, Steven will show you how muting is achieved entirely with your left hand.
