Learn a beautiful duet inspired by the vamps heard at the end of classic rock songs. A vamp is simply a short chord progression that repeats over and over while melodic ideas are layered on top. Probably the most famous example is “Layla” by Derek and the Dominos.
Think of the ending of that song, when it transitions to the beautiful piano section. The same chord progression repeats while the melody continues to evolve. We wanted to capture that same approach with this duet.
It begins with the rhythm ukulele introducing the chord progression. Next, the lead ukulele enters with the melody before developing into a solo. But this isn’t your typical lick or shred-based solo. Instead, it embellishes the harmony, creating an intricate and beautiful piece of music.
