Below is the lesson for “Fingerpicking Etude no. 14”.
Helpful Tips
In this etude, you will learn a syncopated strumming pattern that will not only challenge you rhythmically, but will also help towards increasing reach in your left hand pinky. This etude is split into four themes, with each theme increasing in difficulty.
Theme 1 is entirely fingerpicked and establishes the syncopated “rhythmic theme” heard throughout the piece. Theme 2 takes the fingerpicked pattern from Theme 1, but adds chords and a strum pattern to the mix. In Theme 3, you’ll learn a new syncopated strum pattern that incorporates a four finger strum roll (as taught in our lesson on “La Gitanita“). Lastly, our final theme is a variation on Theme 2.
