“Fingerpicking Etude no. 30: Hammer-Ons, Pull-Offs, & Building Speed” – Rock Class 101

Below is the lesson for Fingerpicking Etude no. 30: “Hammer-Ons, Pull-Offs, & Building Speed”.

Helpful Tips

This etude increases your speed and agility for performing hammer-on, pull-off, and slide techniques. You’ll work on two types of hammer-ons and pull-offs in this piece: single notes and double stops. The former is what we traditionally encounter with this technique. While the latter will present more of a challenge as you’ll play two notes at once.

The other tricky aspect of this piece is the rhythm. It’s based out of 16th notes, some of which are syncopated. We’ll count rhythms in the lesson video, but keep in mind: if you can sing it, you can play it.
