Since the old accountability thread became a monthly challenge, I’m starting a new one.

I love the national pride and Independence Day enthusiasm of the July challenge. Have fun with it, folks!

But not being American, I’m not feeling it for myself and my developing set list. So, I’m setting my own little personal challenge this month. I commit to working on my little original song. I want to flesh it out a bit into a longer song, get it clean, and give it a name. And I want to figure out how to write my own tabs for it, with no glaring musical errors, if I can figure it out – or at least legitimately in swung 4/4 time.

That’s my accountability goal for July. If anyone wants to join me in an non-challenge challenge, you’re more than welcome! I’ll be watching y’all in the official challenge too. ☺

Great idea Lisa! Here is the original thread, for those folks who are new. It has details on how we ran this theme before 🙂

My goal was to build on and clean up my original tune. I built on it, but I ended up making it to hard for me. I tend to curse Andrew for always putting at least one hard thing in but it’s not his fault, the music requires it. 🙂

So instead I wrote a new original tune and tabs for it.

It’s definitely beginner level. It’s loaded with stock chords to help the beginner, but breaks out up the neck a bit. It’s got intentional longer notes to help with harder chord changes. I don’t have a name for it yet. The metronome suggests it’s in 3 4 time, but I’m not sure about that. I wish I knew more theory.

This songwriting thing is a blast. Be nice, I know I’m a total complete beginner at this! Just messing around.
