Fingernail length

The longer I play ukulele (18 months now, so I’m not quite an OG 😂) the shorter I seem to file my nails.
I know that your picking/strumming hand can have long nails but how short should the nails on your chord hand be?
Mine don’t go past the top of my fingers except when I’m pushing down on the fret board 😁
I wondered if shorter nails might help to have a better finger position.

If your nails touch the fretboard, they are too long. Short nails for the win 🙂

This made me laugh. Since I’ve started playing, the nails on my left hand are non-existent. I actually can’t stand to have them grow out at all now. This Ukulele playing thing is a crazy addiction and I love it!

I certainly wasn’t laughing when I filed one hand last night! Every now and then I catch sight of of my now stubby fingered hand and get surprised all over again 😮😂
