    Good day ukuveres
Is it normal to try to learn too much too fast as a beginner? I feel like a kid in a candy store, I want it all and I want it now. My worry is that my practicing will suffer due to my musical ADD.

I’m by no means an expert, but I think setting clear goals for yourself is a good way to avoid this. I also distinguish between time spent playing my ukulele and time spent truly practicing. Truly practicing would be working on technique, theory, or new songs. Playing is having fun with songs I already know.

To answer your question, yes I think it’s normal. Maybe what you are doing isn’t the most efficient way, but the important thing is that you are enjoying it.

Thanks for that. If only there were more hours in the day to play ukulele.

Hey, have you checked out the learning paths piece, linked below? It helps figure out how to structure your practice to make good progress. I think it’s probably normal to want to try everything at first. You’ll settle into a regular routine eventually. 🙂
