I learned this from various sources and then mashed them up. Hope you like. I really like the two simple chords and variations with the fingerpicking. April 2017.

Nice Rick, 🙂 love your ukulele too both for sound and looks. The dark striping down near the bottom is beautiful, it reminds me of trees or kelp.

After researching different woods I’m guessing that’s mango? If I can ever afford one i’m so dreaming of getting a solid mango soundboard uke or a spaulted mango laminate ukulele. (I’m guessing the spaulted mango isn’t strong enough to hold up to being an instrument by itself since it’s beginning to rot? Donno.)

Anyway been watching a lot of your stuff and you’re playing is always enjoyable.

You can definitely buy solid spalted mango instruments, but I think they are less common than laminates because the wood is a bit tricky to work with. (I could be wrong about that, though.) Here is an example https://www.theukulelesite.com/romero-creations-gts-solid-spalted-mango-grand-tenor.html

FWIW, I play a solid mango uke, with a tiny bit of spalting on the back and sides, but none on the sound board. https://meleukulele.com/product/mele-mango-concert-2/

Thanks Becky! The mango is soft and creates a warm, sharp sound. I have a high gloss coat that helps with projection. I found this Oscar Schmidt Spalted Mango wood tenor online and watched a bunch of YouTube reviews. It is still my favorite. It was the first ‘real’ Uke I bought and for the price around $300 it was well worth it in every way. Good luck in your search for your next Uke. Thanks for the kudos on my posts. 🙂

    Robinboyd,
Oh the Romeo creations grand tenor in Mango sounds sooo sweet. I got a chance to play it and almost bought it this past summer, but ended up deciding on a mahogany wood unit instead in the Tiny Tenor. Rick
