“Lover’s March” – Rock Class 101

Below is the lesson for “Lover’s March” by Rock Class 101.

Helpful Tips

This cute sounding song helps increase the speed and agility of your fretting hand. I decided to call this piece “Lover’s March” because it has a steady and driving tempo that’s coupled with a delightful melody.

In a way, this piece could have been one of our fingerpicking etudes. For the most part, our right hand is doing simple fingerpicking throughout. In fact, a lot of the song is fingerpicked using only 2 fingers.

This allows us to put our primary focus on what the left hand is doing. Which is:

1) Flying up and down the neck! We’re breaking away from playing only in the beginning of the neck.

2) Legato and string skipping. The last two melodies (C & D) of the song feature a very cool pull-off lick and a simple, yet melodic string skipping melody.
