Hey Andrew,
I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to watch Bo Burnham’s new special yet — (called “Inside” on Netflix) — but it’s really good. I’d love to see a ukulele adaptation (or inspired version) for one of those tracks on the site! A few of my personal faves that I think could work are: Stuck in a Room (35:30), Don’t Wanna Know (49:30), and That Funny Feeling (01:04:30).
Either way, I recommend checking it out, the show is an absolute work of art!

I have actually noticed more recently that my grip can get in the way of my movement up and down the neck, so this is very helpful! I hadn’t even noticed my fingers dipping under the neck, either. So thank you again, these are habits I will work to correct!

My brain automatically grouped “noodling” with “improvisation” – in which case I (thought) I never do much noodling. But I will play songs or phrases that I already know ad nauseam. So even though I enjoy practicing (with intent), it’s good to know I’m not completely out of balance! I’m still working on bridging the gap between a memorized set of fingerpicking patterns/chords and being able to freestyle those fluidly (for example, in a jam setting). Sometimes I worry that I don’t improvise with the ukulele enough to get there.

Most of Zach Condon’s music features the ukulele and has a really refreshing and interesting sound. Some popular songs to choose from include Postcards from Italy, the Penalty, Port of Call, Nantes, and Elephant Gun. ♥️
