So I am having trouble with a simple tap on my ukulele, like the one at the end of Yankee Doodle. I followed Andrew’s instructions but can’t get it to ring out fully. I can hear the correct notes faintly, but mostly it just emits a kind of squeakish, ringing sound. I don’t know it is hard to describe but I don’t know how to fix it. Please help!!!

I’ll let others help you with technique, but I have a problem with the word “simple”. This is a really really hard technique. I wouldn’t stress about having problems with it.

For that technique, you’re tapping 12 frets (an octave) above the A chord: 2100

Which is done by diagonally angling the index finger to hit the second metal fret of (starting on string 4 to 1):

    14, 13, 12, 12

I’d recommend tackling single note taps before multi-string. Jump into the Harmonics Course. There’s a section that covers tapping single notes 🙂
