Hello everyone. Just found the site today with intentions of becoming a Premium Member. I have a Japanese made Ukulele. The maker is “Famous”, it goes by that name in Japan, but in Europe it is the same Ukulele, but goes under a different name. Maybe someone here in England knows the name. I have the FS-3 model. The soprano ukulele is the most popular size ukulele recommended for beginners. It features a light and cute sound.
Domestic ukulele share No. 1 long-established brand Famous

Started production of ukulele famous in 1955.

Many people say, “My first ukulele was Famous…”!

The fun of the ukulele starts with Famous.

Famous Ukulele has been sticking to high quality and low price for half a century.

Cost performance is a safe brand.

The FS-3 is a ukulele that goes one step above the volume and essence that can be recommended for beginners to intermediate players who are perfect for beginners.

    * Wood grain may differ slightly.
It seems like the newer models have a different wood/laminated body.
    Material
    Bubinga plywood
    Fingerboard material: Walnut veneer
    more info
the older ones which was recently give to me is like this one
And the grain of the body is also wonderful.
This Famous FS-3 is made of bubinga wood and has a unique wood grain.
Bubinga wood is a kind of rosewood, and the vertical lines unique to rosewood are firmly included.
I do have a question. Is the premium membership for guitar, ukulele and bass all included are they different and separate prices.

    Thank you

Welcome, Camper! Our site transitioned to 100% ukulele lessons in January of 2015. Before that, we used to teach guitar, bass, and drums. You can read more about our history here.

But to answer your question, premium membership gains you access to all of our ukulele lessons and courses. If you’re new to RC101, I’d recommend starting here.

The first video provides an overview on who we are and what we do. While the rest of the page helps you figure out where to start with our lessons 🙂

@Camper Welcome. You’ll love it here. Each month we have Challenges and share what we’re learning.

@camper welcome. I know you chose the perfect site to start your Ukulele journey on RC101. This is the site I joined almost 4 years ago when I knew nothing about Uke or playing an instrument. Follow the lessons then choose a song you like in library and learn it. I found that to be most rewarding because I could “play” something. Good luck. This is a very encouraging group! Louisa
Ps make sure you check box below so you see future comments, maybe you knew that but took me few times to catch 😉

    Hello leb
Thank you for the warm and kind comment. Much appreciated. Still working my way around the site and soon to become a paid member. I’ve never played an Ukulele before so this is a new road map in my life to travel. I do a lot of touring/cycling here in Japan and the ukulele fits well on my bike. Be nice to play and sing around a campfire next year with other campers. Again, thank you.

@camper What a great way to play your uke in tandem with your bicycling. Fun. The premium membership is sooooo worth it and a great price if you pay for it yearly. Once you start playing you’ll love it. It’s addictive.

@gi_gi Yes, touring Japan with the ukulele I think will fill the evenings with joy. I actually was at recycle shop looking for a travel size guitar and I ended being given this ukulele by one of the employees. He turns out to be a camper friend now for one year along with another camper friend that we did some trout fishing here in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. I’ll probably end up posting some Japanese cycling/tour pictures if you all don’t mind. So far I’m focusing on just two basic songs (children) that I’d like to bring into my English conversation classes later on, once I know what I’m doing. The subscription I’ll be getting for my end of New Year present to me.
Thank you and hope all is Ukulele well for you.

@camper I love that you are a camper in Japan. Do you have a caravan (trailer/RV) or tent? My husband and I have camped for almost 15 years all around our states and I always bring my Ukulele. Not confident enough to play in big groups but getting up my nerve. Pictures of you travel with you Uke would be fun to see.
Remember when you respond to someone you have to type their “name” exactly with *-!_ or any marks and precede with the @ you almost had it with @gi_gi but needed the extra underscore 🙂
YOU’LL love Rock Class 101. Louisa
