Backbeat with Melody Question

Hey Andrew,
I’m working on the backbeat for your arrangement of “Perfect” but I can’t seem to get what sounds like a reasonable volume without being so forceful that I lose form with my right hand. I’ve tried hitting with different parts of my thumb, slightly different spots on the body, but I’m just not happy with it. Any suggestions on how to figure this out? Or is my perspective just skewed because I’m hearing you play through the pickup? Thank you in advance.

Hi DD, the pickup should make no difference. Ca you share a video of you playing? I’ll be better able to help you if I can see exactly what you are doing.

It just doesn’t sound like it has the same pop to me but I’ll trust your perspective.

Different woods create a different timbre, which I’m guessing is probably the difference you’re hearing. Honestly, it sounded great to me. 🙂
