Been messing around with the ukue for about a year on and off. Learned a few basic things with a a lot of bad habits. So here I am starting over and doing it right so I can go beyond strumming a few chords. Started yesterday with your beginners class. From the very start I realize I’m terrible with timing and rhythm. Not a good start but after just a little practice I do see the light.its gonna be a long road but I’m determined.

Welcome Harv! Timing is hard for a lot of people, but here is where I would start if I were you. First, check out our lesson on understanding rhythmic notation. Then, give this song a shot. Work on counting and playing at the same time. This will help reinforce the concept of quarter notes and eighth notes. I would play along with a metronome as well or use the on-screen tab viewer in “synthetic” mode, with the metronome activated. If you don’t know how to do this, watch the second video on this page.

Let me know how it goes and if you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask 🙂
