Interstellar (thumb pick)

Thank you, so much for this beautiful Interstellar lesson. It is my favorite movie song and your rendition is amazing and playable. I can actually do the harmonics but not yet reliably.

My question is about the pick you’re using. What made you decide to use a thumb pick? Also I noticed it’s much thicker than other picks I’ve seen. Why and is it hard or soft?
