    Hello! Has anyone tried to tune the first string (A) to a higher B? I have tried and the string broke… Do you know why? Could It Be the uke (lanikai), or maybe the string itself (I was thinking of getting metal ones)

    Is there a reason why you would want to tune it to B? I have heard some YouTubers say the A string breaks the most.

    I know some people (including Tobias Elof) tune their ukes to ADFB, so yes, it is possible. From what I understand it is easier on sopranos, which have naturally lower string tension. I wouldn’t want to try it on a tenor.

    Oh, and another follow-up. Sorry for being so scatterbrained. Do NOT get metal strings. You will damage the uke.
