What do you think about low G? How is the sound, and how this affect the fingerstyle?
I am tempted to use it on one of my use but I don’t know if it a good idea.

In addition: in the Italian Facebook ukulele group someone said you can use the D of a classic guitar for Low G on uke, it is true?

It breaks away from the traditional uke sound, but gives you a bass note, which can be very useful for certain genres, such as jazz. I don’t think it makes much difference in executing fingerstyle playing.

I’m not sure on the D string question. Shoot an email to Mike @ http://ukerepublic.com, he’ll know for sure on that one! Tell him I sent ya 🙂

I like to use the low g on some songs that are mostly strumming for sing-a-long, but usually when I play that, I’m at a ukulele group with others sporting their re-entrant ukuleles, so I add a little something. When fingerpicking/fingerstyle, the low g will sometimes make the song sound off unless you quickly shoot up 12 frets.

You can do what a lot of people do, and just have more than 1 ukulele 🙂

By the way, I’m planning to introduce low G lessons soon 🙂
