I’m thinking of lowering the action on my Uke myself 😳

I’m pretty confident I can sand the bridge down easily enough but the nut seems to be something requiring a decent and correct size file.

Has anyone got any recommendations for sizes/files they use.

I don’t want anything to expensive as I’ll likely only use it once or twice so any links on Amazon/eBay/AliExpress would be awesome 🙂

Check this out. Joel might be the world uke setup expert. The DIY stuff works pretty well. Search for “the ukulele review podcast #12”

Thanks 👍 just watched it, really great info on how to setup a Uke with bare bones hardware.

@surferjay – did you end up finding something to lower your action? I bought a $10 file set from Amazon a couple of years ago to test on a cheap Soprano that had bad action. It worked well enough. The widths ranged from 0.4mm-1.6mm and because they weren’t really all that sharp, it wasn’t hard not to file down too low if you go slow.

I’ve seen similar sets for sale. I have a new Uke arriving this week so I’ll have a play with my Cordoba and try and try and lower the action.

If I mess it up I’ll take it to a professional.
