Having trouble understanding the second measure. I get the index down stroke. But the thumb downstroke …. 1.) Is it intended to only hit the “C” on the first string? (Then ok with the upstroke on the open A string) 2.) On the next index down stroke he says “down with the index be sure to mute the A string”… How do you do that? Or mute with what? (Assuming hitting the 3 strings)

Thanks and sorry to be a pest. 2nd measure and it’s may 17th.. I have some work to do.

    1) No, you can hit the full chord.

    2) He wants you to highlight the melody note on the 2nd string, so if you mute the 1st string that helps ensure this happens. To do this, curve your index finger of left hand down a little to lightly touch the 1st string. This is the same light touch you use for a muted string hit.

Let me know if this all makes sense 🙂
