Here’s my February challenge submission of Tremolo Picking Etude. Apart from the fact that I can’t grow my nails, I wanted to practice using a pick to augment starting to learn Mandolin. This is still pretty choppy, especially the C section. But considering I could barely hold a pick when I started, I am feeling okay about my progress. And I am working to let go of expectations for a “perfect” take. Happy Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year and Ramadan, and Olympics too.

I’ve escaped the feet of snow in the north, for the month of February. Still playing a lot with local groups down here but practice time is not top of my priority. I’ve added tremolo and Tenn. waltz to my to do in future. @karenj sounds really nice.

    Hi everyone!
Here is my submission for this month. I chose “Spanish Romance” and adapted the arrangement for Low G ukulele. I have a very busy week ahead, so I’m posting a little earlier than usual. I’m hoping I might find some extra time to practice and possibly record another take—we’ll see! Otherwise, this is as good as it gets for now.
To @Marianne and everyone who has shared their performances so far—absolutely amazing work! 👏

When I first joined RockClass101.com more than five years ago, I went through all the songs and added those I eventually wanted to learn to my favorites, and Tennessee Waltz has been on that list ever since, so really happy to see it coming up in a monthly challenge. I love this song, so many different and interesting versions out there. My take is quick and dirty though, just started learning it last weekend and did my first recording attempt today, one week later. Sounds decent enough to me to leave it at that. I have to admit, not expecting feedback from Andrew this time takes away the pressure to shoot for perfection, and the frustration that sometimes comes with that, so I actually enjoyed just recording a “good enogh” take for once. But I do hope we will eventually get the feedback feature back nonetheless 🙂

Please exclude me from the prize drawing this month.

    Hi everyone!
It was fun to practice for the challenge. But I couldn’t decide on just one piece. Therefore, I’m uploading two pieces.
All others who have shared their performance so far: it’s amazing. I am very impressed.

    Hi All,

I chose to work on Spanish Romance this month. It turns out the short month caught up with me, and I’ll have little time for any practice in the coming week, so I’m sharing my progress with the A melody so far. Please do not consider this an entry for the prize drawing.

Aloha Uke Family. I learned the Tennessee Waltz this much. Thanks Rc101 for another excellent challenge 🤓

Here’s my best take. (I know there’s a couple slight hiccups in the last bit of this performance but otherwise it turned out pretty groovy😅)

So, folks, here’s my Tennessee waltz.

It was a bit too difficult for me; a whole month without a few days of practice wasn’t enough… Here’s what worked.
