Hey guys, Kanile’a sent me these photos way back when my uke was being built AND I never posted them. Whoops! But they are too cool not to share 🙂

This is my low G Kanile’a. The back and sides are Milo, which is indigenous to Hawaii (just as Koa is). The top is curly redwood. I chose this wood combo as they generate warm, mellow tones – a great contrast from the brightness of my all Koa High G Kanile’a.

Here’s what the uke sounds like. (Snippet is from Concept Lesson EP010).

Lol, don’t warn us about April 1st. That just spoils the fun!

I love the pics of the uke though. I didn’t realise you had milo back and sides on it. It looks a whole lot nicer than my milo uke, which caused me all sorts of trouble (worked out ok in the end, though).

Yes, @rickeymike! Yellow tape WILL make all the difference 🙂

We should ALL invest in yellow tape.
(I sure need SOMETHING to make a difference).

Awesome pics Andrew. I’d love to have custom uke built one day. I bought one of the ukulele kits from stewmac. Not quite the same as a custom kanile’a but I’m still excited to have a go at building it 😁
