right hand position for 3 finger picking

I want to practice 3 finger picking before I start leaning Etude in E Minor. Should the fingers be perpendicular to the strings (requiring me to bend the wrist) so I can pluck with the center of the fingertip Or keep a straight wrist resulting in plucking with the edge of the fingertips?

I prefer to keep the wrist straight, but some of our other teachers like Steven and Matt prefer the other way. Try both and see which feels most comfortable to you.
