I have been trying to figure out how to play the chorus part of “I’m Yours”. I have gone over both the chucking lessons of Andrew and Matt as well as a slapping/tapping lesson. Matt says there is no upbeat chuck. I am not sure what the difference between slapping and choking is, number one. And number two, I cannot tell what you are doing when you play the chorus of “I’m Yours”. Help?

The chorus uses Matt’s chunking method for the first hit. The second hit is a muted up strum, although I only hit the A string when I come up. But you can hit more or all strings.

This video breaks down what’s happening in that section:

If you want to make it easier, you could replace the chunk with a muted down strum.

Slap, chunk, chuck, backbeat are interchangeable – they all mean the same thing. And Matt is correct, there is no upward chuck.
