Training These Fingers

Checking in with an update.

I feel like a baby, who’s intermediate at crawling (strumming) but an absolute beginner at walking (picking). I’ve also never, ever been past the first 5 frets. So there is a LOT coming at me with these new lessons. I’ve been doing the practice lessons for the 3 picking styles but feel I needed to add more for the Travis picking and 4-finger styles. I want to get these fingers trained before I advance. For the 4-finger practice I am working on ‘House of the Rising Sun’. For Travis picking I am working on ‘You are my Sunshine’. I need songs that are familiar with fairly easy chords so I can concentrate on my fingers.

Once I don’t have to think about my fingers, so much, I can concentrate on moving on the fret board.

Can any of you suggest songs that would be good for using either of these 2 fingerpicking styles? I want to have a variety to work on as I get bored easily. TIA!

4 finger approach: Chopsticks
