Hello from Sunny Cairns. While I’m here, I thought I would do a bit of uke tourism so I visited Allen McFarlane of Barron River Ukuleles and toured his shed this morning before going to a music shop and playing a bunch of different ukes including all 3 K brands in the afternoon. It was a really good experience. Of the ukes I played, I think I liked the DaSilva spruce top the best (which is interesting because it’s the first spruce top I liked the sound of). Of the K brands, I liked the sound and playability of the Koaloha the best, but I just can’t get over the garishness of the looks. Allen didn’t have any finished ukes on hand, so I didn’t get a chance to play any of his.
