I thought I would chime in. I really don’t have any useful advice but I am in the same boat so I thought I would at least say you are not alone 🙂
I get pulled in 4 different directions half the time. I want to learn many things but what I enjoy doing is just noodling around on it, making up my own little ditties. I also play a lot of tab I find on the net. Most of it is fairly easy. If I have heard the song before, I usually can play it with just the chords.
When I come back here I realize I’m still in beginner land after 2 years. I can’t do half the chords on here as my fingers don’t stretch that much and playing the tab by sight is mentally tiring. I often play by ear so forcing myself to use my eyes and not my ears is challenging lol.
I would like to get better. I just apparently am a bit too scattered to stick to one thing for very long. I get bored of a song long before I have it mastered. I have a hard time playing songs that I don’t relate to.
One thing I do try to do is at least play every other day, if not every day for about an hour. At least it helps keep the fingers moving.
I’ll also be checking back for advice to your question 🙂
