I like elinoc’s suggestions. Is Evan also from Atlanta? Was this video shot at the Atlanta Zoo? I hope Evan’s playing did not wake up the sleeping big cats, lol.

Jordan, thanks again for your tip. I ordered the James Hill book Duets for One. It arrived at my doorstep today, a Valentine’s Day gift.
I love it. I gave a listen to the audio performances and have begun work on Hill’s arrangement of Georgia On My Mind. It is very satisfying, but quite a bit easier (for me) than Evan’s sensational arrangement where he emulates the legendary Ray Charles performance.
So, my plan is to learn the James Hill arrangement first, then tackle Evan’s arrangement when my chops improve.

Yes, I’m a big James Hill fan. I got his Ukulele-X lessons for percussion, in particular “Billie Jean.” Wow. (I’m actually making some progress on that, lol. At bit.)

I play a wonderful jazz chord melody arrangement of Georgia On My Mind (our state song, of course) arr. by Rich Seversen. I got that one, but playing it on uke is essential. Thanks for pointing the way for me.

Andrew, please keep on giving us CLASSIC ROCK arrangements by rock groups from the 60s to Y2K.
    and
I have seen several “attempts” at the Mandolorian Theme on youtube. I think you would do a much better job! Please.

Andrew, of course I love your playing and ability to create fantastic arrangements of the songs I desire to play. Evan is a monster. I want to break his fingers. (just kidding)

I don’t know that many ukulele artists, but of those I have heard, my favorites are:
    1. James Hill (someone has already posted a video of his “Billie Jean” performance)
    2. Overdriver Duo (Brazil)
    3. Stu Fuchs (into Zen)

I appreciate that you arrange ukulele pieces for all levels and many different genres. I love playing classical, rock, folk, movie/tv themes and blues.

    Kanni,
Yes, that is the Myrtlewood concert by Breedlove. It comes highly recommended.
The folks at Sweetwater do a 50 point hand-on inspection of these instruments before they ship They sent me photos of the actual uke which is now in transit. The photo I posted above is the one.

    Kanae,
Thanks for asking. No the Fullerton Fender Strat uke is still in the wind. It was never delivered to me. Probably some kid (or adult) is playing with a new toy and wondering if it fell from the sky. Sweetwater has the most wonderful customer service, so they have credited the full amount. I ordered a new Breedlove concert uke (see photo) because my friends here talked me in to going for tone and sound quality over a novel “look.” It is coming UPS (NOT FedUpx) and should arrive next mid-week. It was on sale at $125.00 off list and they even through in a free gig bag and uke stand for my trouble. Love these guys.
I also plan to string a low G on this, and drill a new strap button at the base of the neck to attache a strap (already arrived). I did this with my cheaper soprano uke and love it.
For more of this saga, please stay tuned. (See what I did there?)

Just a note to no-one in particular, but have to voice my displeasure “somewhere.”
FedEx has apparently lost (mis-delivered) my new instrument and gig bag. Their tracking gave the exact time it was delivered today, to the minute. But it was not delivered to me. My wife and I were home all day (as we usually are since the pandemic began) with both cars in carport. With specific orders to leave at carport door. Their tracking says they did that, but I’ve checked all day, both doors, all around, no uke.

This is the 3rd delivery in a row FedEx has screwed up. UPS doesn’t ever have a problem. USPS doesn’t ever have a problem. FedEx must hire the dumbest delivery drivers on the planet, at least in my area.

I am so disappointed. Now it’s gonna take a lot longer to get the uke I really want.

    Robin and Kanae,
I checked out the Vorson Quilt Maple S Style Electric Ukulele (with Gig Bag) online. It is very much more like the Fender Strat in appearance, but it is a solid-body ELECTRIC uke, not an acoustic/electric. Great price, but not what I really wanted.

I would like to add to the request for Alice’s Restaurant. I played it (used to, anyway) on guitar.

I also would like to see a ukulele version of the theme from The Mandolorian. There are some nice (easy to hard) arrangements out there for guitar.

Andrew, so you’re also in Atlanta?
Is there any way we can have a (brief) private chat, not on forum?

    Robin,
Thanks for your input. I’m a nut, so I went ahead and purchased the Fullerton Sunburst. I may have to drill some to attache a couple of strap pins… thank you YouTube for videos on that, LOL.
Your insights have been assimilated. Resistance is futile.

    Howdy, fellow “ukie” from Hot-lanta!
I love your music “playlist.” All of it. I’m a big fan of Weird Al Yankovic. I’ve only been playing ukulele for about 2 weeks, but I’ve played guitar for 6 years. I play a great jazzy chord melody version of Hoagy Charmichael’s “Georgia on my Mind” (Rick Seversen arrangement). And a nice version of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” (Go Bravos!)
But just learned Take Me Out… on the ukulele last 2 days. It’s pretty easy.
I am really enjoying this site to supercharge my new ukulele journey. Keep in touch.
