Hi, I wanted to know how I could get a basic understanding of knowing which chords and what chord progression can be played for any specific song. example- if I want to play the happy birthday song, how do I know which chords to play and in what order.
Hi deshika, you would need to have a through understanding of the basics of music theory (which we provide a great intro to in our Music Theory Course) and then would need to study Diatonic Harmony and Chord Progressions. The latter is taught in complete detail in chapter 10 in our 200 page theory ebook: Fretboard Evolution.
One more thing to add, you’ll want to start developing your ear so that you can recognize pitches, intervals, and chords. Check out question 4 from our lightning round #2 video for some tips on where to start with that.
