D tuning

Hi All

I have been experimenting with D tuning on my tenor ukulele. I like the sound that is reproduced, however as the strings get tighter I find it difficult to do barre chords.

Another reason I tried this tuning was to lower the boominess of the low G sting. I find the low G is less overpowering with the D tuning.

Any suggestions with string choices would be appreciated.
