The_Bumble_BardParticipant@madz_about_uke, I have never really tried transposing on a uke like that, not a full song like that yet, but that seems to make sense, lol! Just out of curiosity, would it work if you sang lower, but played the uke music as it is?
I don’t think you sound unnatural at all, I thought it was lovely! I feel like it’s always good to push the limits of what you normally do, as long as you aren’t pushing too hard and getting stressed.
I enjoy picking a uke song ridiculously beyond my skills to play, then just going for it! But I don’t find that stressful; that’s where I feel like I grow the most and thrive the most, and what I love to do on the uke. One of the first songs I tried to learn was Cello Prelude No. 1 by Bach. I love complicated fingerpicking, classical songs on uke (well, Baroque in that case?).
Thank you kindly, madz!! I still feel so honored and blessed to have won! π I genuinely still can’t believe it, lol. There’s so much potential with it, too, and so much to learn. Very overwhelming. I feel like my brain is what’s in overdrive……. ;] I wonder if they may give away the other electric ukes that I didn’t pick, though? I don’t know how that works. I’m brand new to the site, too, and this happened. LOL. Thank you, though!

The_Bumble_BardParticipantThank you both so much, @fmattheus and @lhamilton! Both of those videos helped tremendously! π
For some reason I really struggled to find that information (probably because I am a total newbie at all of this). I feel more empowered now to tinker in a somewhat more knowledgeable, controlled fashion, lol. Thank you!
The_Bumble_BardParticipantBeautiful, @Madz_About_Uke!! π
It’s neat that you can sing outside of your natural range of singing. I can only sing in the key of cringe. But this is so lovely! I’m so jealous! π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@Andrew, thank you so much! π It’s so much fun and there’s so much potential with it! I have plans… π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@annemarie, hehe, thank you so much! Once I got it working and figured out how to make it “spicy” with the overdrive, I was blown away by the sound and feel of it. Still struggling a bit to figure out what the switches on the uke itself do, and couldn’t find much information about that. π³ But trial and error is the key. π
The amp I ended up getting was this one:
For now I went for the cheapest one that was decently reviewed and it works pretty well, but Andrew recommended this one (that I fully intend to get one day, once I have spare coins):
But yeah, I will defs upload other videos of the uke in action because it’s pretty neat! ππ
@nelsonlin2021 and @lhamilton, thank you kindly, friends! I’m still so excited by the neatness of it! πAugust 10, 2022 at 12:43 am in reply to: Participate in the July 2022 Member Challenge: WIN Electric Ukulele! #53069
The_Bumble_BardParticipantHello again!
So, after some ado, I was finally able to throw together this little video. Still not sure if I am at all doing any of it right, but I’m figuring it out slowly. Hopefully better videos (of me playing, not talking, ugh) to come. Thank you again!
I forgot to mention that the version of Drunken Sailor I play I think is a lesson Matt Dahlberg from the site taught, then played while on a boat. I may have imagined that. I may be delusional. Anyway, enjoy this incredibly awkward video (even though likely everyone else has moved on, lol).
Oh yeah, and I messed up playing… a lot, but it still sounded cool. Bonus! π
Also, correcting the video: Flight Centurion Tenor Electric Ukulele

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@annemarie, thank you! I feel even more reassured in my choice now, even though I definitely was considering the other ones. Hahaha I am going to shred that thing like an extra sharp cheddar, man! Well, hopefully eventually I will. π
@tessiert, hahaha, thank you! My excitement is real. I am just still so honored and humbled and overwhelmed to have won, because there are so many talented people on this site (even though I know it’s a random draw) but also I was having an extremely hard week and also could never afford to get an instrument like that. So, TMI as usual, but it’s just pretty special. π
@pysanky, thank you so much! It’s just a stunning instrument, I hope one day to really do it justice with my playing. πSo excited for the next challenge as well! There are two songs that are especially intriguing. Thank you, @Andrew, for creating this site, such inspiring compositions and detailed lessons, and the opportunities to learn and share in this community! Also, the neat ‘n’ sweet prizes!
Also, you’re the Bob Ross of ukulele.
The End… π π

The_Bumble_BardParticipantOkay, not sure if my replies showed up. I’ll delete any duplicates later if I posted more than one. π
Edit: Never mind, I got it! Much to everyone’s chagrin… ππ

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@lbilkie, thank you kindly!! I eventually decided to pick this one:

The Flight Centurion Gold Top Tenor Electric Uke.
Not sure if that image will work. It was the last one listed on page one of this thread. A real beaut! π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@lhamilton thank you kindly! They really are beautiful! So excited to give one a whirligig, because I’ve never played an electric uke before! π
@mark65536, thank you so much! Hahaha, you will, maybe even in the next one if time allows. LOL.August 1, 2022 at 5:46 pm in reply to: Participate in the July 2022 Member Challenge: WIN Electric Ukulele! #52991
The_Bumble_BardParticipantThank you kindly, @leb397! Much appreciated and agreed! Such fun to watch everyone’s take and all the different entries!

The_Bumble_BardParticipantOh, em, gee! Baaaaaaah! Thank you so, so, SO much!! I’m so excited! This text does not convey how excited I am. I was in the grocery store when I saw the email and felt like I was going to faint and cry, but thankfully I did neither, LOL. I just never win anything ever. And I can’t convey how happy, grateful, honored, and gobsmacked I am. Thank you, Andrew! π :’D
I just want to say that everyone did such an incredible, incredible job that I feel almost guilty for winning, LOL. But……………………………………………….I still accept the win, in this too-over-the-top fashion.
Thank you again!!!!!!!!!!! π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@lhamilton, that whistling was incredible! You’re like a majestical bird that’s alighted on these forums from another, more beautiful dimension. I mean that in the best way, LOL. That seriously was mind-blowing, though. Never heard anything quite like that or really heard anyone who whistled quite so pristinely.
Side note, is it necessary to say that you’re a premium member? If so, I AM that, so please note that for your record books. Thank you and good day! π
