ParticipantSo here is my very basic first week’s progress video. In my defence, we had family here till the fifth so my practice was pretty limited. I think my speed on the plucked strum is increasing a bit though this is still a worry. I have a lot more to do on the transitions. And I have had to change one fingering choice which reduces the number of theoretically ringing strings.

ParticipantI’ve just been looking back at your ukulele journey @abster and it’s really impressive. Loving your accompaniment here.

ParticipantHappy New Year to everyone! My goal for January is to make my playing sound more delightful – I am an industrious beginner (I have been playing for four months) and I put a lot of time into making things technically accurate and rather less into making them lovely to listen to. So that’s my January goal. I’m going to work through more of the lessons (beginner course here and maybe classical) but I am also going to work on the tune “Great Fairy Fountain” with a tutorial here on RC101.
Application: I do play ukulele nearly every day and I will keep improving the experience as an intention. However I expect to work on this particular piece only roughly every other day (I split my time between high G and low G ukulele). Nevertheless, I have high hopes.
Evaluation: I’ll post a video by the end of the month and you can tell me whether it sounds delightful or not! This tune is in three parts, getting increasingly harder, so I may have to just do one or two of the parts.

ParticipantThings are about to get busy round here so this is not quite the finished article. It’s been great fun to learn though!

Participant@otzepeng I’m working on Silver Bells – it will not be as lovely as your performance! I agree that it’s a really interesting and enjoyable arrangement to learn. Thanks for sharing this – it’s very aspirational for me.
I’m loving listening to all the performances as ever and I will participate this month despite not being perfect.

ParticipantThanks for the very helpful feedback, Andrew! I’ve started working on the December challenge and the tutorial included an admonition to keep the fingers down whenever possible so I think I’m getting better at that.

This might be a duplicate post because mine seems to have disappeared. I’m not sure how to do embeds so this might just be a link. I only discovered this contest yesterday and I’ve only been playing since August so this is a bit rubbish (There’s also a bit cut out of the beginning of the video where I talk about my new ukulele, hence the part way through start).
