It feels a bit better but I notice my thumb goes to an angle and not straight when playing chords especially g chord. Is this a problem?
September 22, 2017 at 3:19 pm #13734philrab66ParticipantHi Drew
Could you please look at this video. Just showing my thumb placement for you to have a look at. This position feels very unnatural and uncomfortable for me am I in correct position with wrist etc
Thanks Phil.September 20, 2017 at 5:02 pm #13628philrab66ParticipantThanks for the feedback. If possible Drew could you please recommend a song just a bit more challenging than Yankee Doodle so I am not trying to learn something that is too difficult .
Thanks Phil.September 20, 2017 at 4:10 pm #13623philrab66ParticipantMy 2nd video of my practice. Before I shot this video I played it perfectly so I thought I would record it. A few fluff ups in this one.Any thoughts on my playing Andrew also any tips for recording without putting pressure on yourself. Have you any tips for me on not wrapping my thumb over the top.I should have listened to my guitar teacher from the start.
Thanks Phil.

I am going to learn Yankee doodle. I know a few chords and I mainly fingerpick but I belong to 2 groups where we strum and sing.Goal for the month is to learn whole song and get it to sound in time with some dynamics.APPLICATION
I will be learning 4 bars then going on to next with correct timingEVALUATION
I may post a few videos as I go for another perspective on my playing. Watching my performance is a good way to see my progress.
I am also doing a bit of ear training to figure out keys and chord progressions.

Been practicing melody A can do it fairly well until I press recordSeptember 15, 2017 at 1:20 pm #13509philrab66ParticipantI totally agree. The songs are very hard and I think it puts a lot of people off because you class them as beginners songs. For someone like yourself a musician they are very basic. I personally think that if people could play these songs they would not need the instruction you provide. I think you need some songs that actual beginners could play and sound nice. Anyway a bit of customer feedback for you. And another bit of feedback is that you do a great job and so thorough.

I think Tessa has same problem as me concert with only 12 frets to body
PhilAugust 12, 2017 at 5:31 pm #13157philrab66ParticipantGood job ser_ser
Having trouble with this one, only got 12 frets to body and big fingersAugust 6, 2017 at 2:29 pm #13117philrab66ParticipantI can not get enough sound when I slap the strings only time I do is if my nail accidentally hits the fingerboard. All I am doing is muting strings.

Just a quick question how do you count an 8th quarter quarter 8th 8th 8th is it 12 3a4a
Thanks PhilJuly 8, 2017 at 5:10 pm #12767philrab66ParticipantHi Chip
My advice is to listen to Andrew how to practice properly. Use the tab viewer slow it right down loop bar 1 until you can play it at a decent speed then move on to bar 2. Don’t try and play whole song through.July 7, 2017 at 4:07 pm #12759philrab66ParticipantWell done Naomi great job
