I’ve always loved Dream A Little Dream of Me so that’s what I picked to learn this month. It’s not quite perfect but I only had time for the single take and I had fun with it so it’s loose. Anyway, thanks so much to Matt for his simple and beautiful arrangement. Great job to everyone participating, you’re all winners!

Here’s a quick take of Etude in E minor that I’ve been working on this month. I need a better mic for classical (or just in general) but here it is nonetheless. Cheers everyone!

@seoulkim Very well played! Stick with it and it’ll just get better. And, if people don’t appreciate your playing then always remember, “Those who matter, don’t mind. Those who mind, don’t matter.” Uke on!

Here’s my attempt at Moondance, a song I tried learning a year ago and it was far too advanced for me. Now, not so much. The singing was required so my apologies for that and I rushed the ending but, you get the idea. I just wanted to be able to play a few campfire singalongs and now that’s not enough. Thanks so much!

Hey all, just wanted to throw in my request for some percussive ukulele lessons or hopefully even a full technique plan like the triplet course. Instead of patterns that have to be stuck to precisely, I’d prefer some interchangeable beats, patterns, and flourishes that can be used on the fly as accents or embellishments as I usually play with an improvisational style rather than strict arrangements. I’ve been loving everything so far and I can’t wait to see what you come up with o er the next year. Thanks so much! Happy holidays everyone!

edit: I’d love to see more low G content and it would also be very helpful to have different levels of the songs or even a basic melody for each that I can use to flesh out to my playing level. Many times I see songs that I would love to play but the arrangements are far beyond me and I don’t want to wait another year to be able to play some version it. Also, would it be possible to have the tabs appear onscreen during Andrews walkthrough lessons? It is there for discussing new bars but when you go back to play the whole measure “together”, the tabs aren’t onscreen so I can’t remember the longer whole that we just went over. Just a thought.

Here’s my Hannukah, Oh,Hannukah. I wanted to learn Carol Of The Bells as that’s the only Christmas song I’ve ever liked but it seemed too hard so I picked this one. It’ll maybe come in handy to impress some Jewish friends once we can start socializing again. Anyway, here it is, slow and with a few flubbed chords and a lot of added notes. Hopefully it’s close enough for a couple of entries. Happy Holidays to everyone and their everyones!!! Stay joyful and safe and uke on!

Well, here’s my slow and steady attempt at Puff the Magic Dragon. Watching everyone else on here humbles me and I feel like I’ve spent a year and a half learning the wrong things or just not learning enough but I’m sticking with it since I am at least better than I was and playing still puts a smile on my face. I feel like I’ve made better progress since finding RockClass too, so thank you to you all. Great job everybody! Anyway, here it is:

Thanks for the encouragement, Mark. It is certainly tough to unlearn my style of playing and replace it with something new but, I guess that’s why it’s called a “challenge”. 🙂 And man, I feel you about the recording anxiety. I’ve got dozens of partial takes that I need to trash. Same happens when I record stuff I know well. Just another part of this to get comfortable with, like singing. Best of luck to you!

Well, here it is at half speed with some flubs included. After days of trying and failing at the first couple of bars I was ready to give up. Thanks for the tips Andrew, they clearly worked. Also, I feel I owe Steven an apology for my first comment. I was frustrated and spoke harshly. After a couple of tips I went back through your instruction and it finally clicked. Steven, you are a great instructor and I’m looking forward to some more lessons. 🙂 Thanks again everyone!

Anyway, here is my attempt (don’t worry, I’ll keep working on it):

Hello everyone, I have been playing uke for about a year and a half and thought I was passing the beginner stage. I can fingerpick and strum and use some techniques and can play and sing hundreds of songs, but this is the first time I ever thought I should quit. I can’t even play the first two bars of the triple strum etude at 25 bpm after hours of trying. I’ve been using the triplet strum since the beginning but this has completely broken my brain. I’ve tried the best I could but it’s beginning to infuriate me and I am really not enjoying it at all, and time is running out to come up with some kind of entry. This instructor does not click with me and I can’t follow his teaching style. Is there anything I can do to make progress and be able to post an entry? Should I just keep trying the first few bars for another month? I don’t know what to do. I’ve been really enjoying my subscription but I just don’t know where to go from here. Any advice is very welcome. Thanks y’all.
