Here’s my Hannukah, Oh,Hannukah. I wanted to learn Carol Of The Bells as that’s the only Christmas song I’ve ever liked but it seemed too hard so I picked this one. It’ll maybe come in handy to impress some Jewish friends once we can start socializing again. Anyway, here it is, slow and with a few flubbed chords and a lot of added notes. Hopefully it’s close enough for a couple of entries. Happy Holidays to everyone and their everyones!!! Stay joyful and safe and uke on!

Here are the last couple of folks on page 8 that we hadn’t left feedback for yet 🙂

    @joe150
    – Great job, Joe! I think you’ve got a great base established, so now you want to start working on how you are playing it – which was the focus of this video/article. For this song, work on sustaining every note/chord throughout each measure. Basically, don’t lift up prematurely as you’re doing now – which makes it sound stacatto-y.

Also, try a hammer-on for beats 2 & (2nd and 3rd note in the measures). That’ll give it a smooth connecting, legato sound. With those in mind, work on 2 bar phrases at a time playing alongside Steven in the tab player. Loop it and try to match his playing 100%. Start slow and gradually boost the tempo and tackle the song piece by piece.

    – Well played! Great job on the timing, fluidity and feel. Bravo!

    Hey everyone,
Merry festive times to you all. I’ve chosen Carol of the Bells because I sang it in a choir once and it was REALLY cool to sing (the words were easy to learn – lots of ding dongs!)
My latest choir wouldn’t do it, because it’s too ‘popular’! Of course it’s popular – it’s really cool!!!
I’ve also learn Deck the halls – but as it’s taking 100 takes due to ‘camera freeze’ – I may put that one up later.
    Anyway – I’ve also donated a ukulele-worth to the kids club.($40)
Stay safe everyone and looking forward to a new year of musical challenges.

It doesn’t look like I’ll get a chance to practice much over the next couple of days.so here’s the best performance I managed to record of Evan’s version of the Christmas Song.

Happy Christmas Everyone. See you next year!

Cheers @Andrew, thank you! I have to say that the last two challenges really helped my playing, compared to last summer.

One thing I noticed from the recordings I made, is that sometimes my strokes are not “even” in parts where they should 🙂 Is it just a matter of practice or there’s maybe some specific exercise I can do to try to improve that?

You are most welcome! I think this is my 4th ukulele-worth donation.. it’s nice to have the opportunity to spread the joy of the world’s happiest little instrument. I donated to the US kidsclub. 🙂

@ukesilver – I didn’t hear any inconsistencies, but if you want to work on it try this etude. Just replace the arpeggio-pluck technique with a strum or any style of stroke you wish.

    Hello

I had so much fun learning this christmas song and i’m so happy to be able to play it to my grandmother for christmas.

I should have use my mic instead of my phone, i’m so sad to be so lazy!
I made some mistakes, and i should play with evan in my earphones because i’m not in time, but i’m satisfied of what i did 🙂
