Why is it that when I practise on my air ukulele (especially as I’m falling asleep), I can play through an entire piece without any clangers, with smooth transitions, and everything sounds lovely? When I practise in real time, I can play each section without mistakes, but when I try to put them all together, I get . . . well . . . this. Anyway, it’s the best I can do for now. To make up for it, I’ve added a little bonus track at the end.

Thanks again, Andrew and crew—I’m so glad I discovered Rockclass101. I hope you get a well-deserved break. And now we can look forward to the days getting longer.

Here is my entry for this month’s challenge. I had a nice time learning this piece and look forward to exploring it more. I want to continue learning about sustain and carry out the sound longer as I get the shapes a bit more under my fingers.

Thank you Rockclass101 for hosting these challenges. I first joined in February and am excited to continue learning about the ukulele and fingerstyle playing. You have created a great community of instructors and students.

@The_Bumble_Bard – It took me a while to build up to “performance” standard, if you can call it that. One day, navigating around the fretboard will come more naturally, but I have to let my brain come to that in its own time. Happy holidays to you – I can imagine you and your googly uke are the life of the party!

@richard_siegert – I thought you did a great job Richard! You play with such great feel! From here, I’d play along with Steven in the tab player. Try one section at a time with a focus on keeping it steady. Well done this month, keep up the great work!

Thanks for your positive and encouraged comments. I really appreciated you used my own skill in one section to show I can do better in another. Here is a second attempt, this time on my Baritone. I realised from watching the other contributors that I could change which fingers I used, and it really helped me. I also had to change the final G7, because I just can’t make it work in Fret 5. Thanks again.

@suekulele – Awesome performance, Sue! I have just two small tips. In measure 7, you want to hold the first note out a little longer as it’s a quarter note. And as you continue practicing, I’d focus mainly on timing (keeping it steady throughout). Try looping 4 or 8 bars at a time with Steven in the tab player. Try to lock in as close as you can with his playing. That’s a great way to practice timing. Or you can go old school, with a metronome/tapping your foot along. Either way works 🙂

Well this was a tough one and I didn’t particularly enjoyed playing it (oops haha) so this is as good as it’s gonna get! I tried to match the speed and the precision going up and down the neck non stop but it’s way too hard to play at 100% perfectly (except for Evan of course)
