brettboyParticipantFun Fact @Andrew and @The_Bumble_Bard
I surprised my wife with a “Melon Party” back in May for Mothers Day. I rolled it in on a cart wearing a tie while our teens pretended to be Macro Data refiners. Needless to say it was the hilarious and she loved it 🙂

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@brettboy, haha!! That is so amazing. I’ve never seen the show, I just know that I really want a melon party!! You know, it’s funny that this year my birthday fell on Mother’s Day, so it’s almost like I was part of that melon party!! 😂😯
(But in reality I got my first ever traffic ticket as my birthday present… 😂😒)
Also I’m not going to comment on the previous post, assuming that’s something from the show but… Hmmm. 😂😂😅

leb397Participant@the_bumbble_bard and @brettboy I started watching it a while ago but stopped. The melon party sounds like a great idea and how sweet you celebrated MD for your wife @brettboy. Great playing,as usual. @TBB, sad you celebrated with a ticket… sounds like a good song you could write.
Some great entries . @grannieannie nice one take job! @misterbones, super duet with base.
Still working on my entryLook forward to yours @TBB, Rachel.

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397, I should write a song about that, it would be quite a mournful one. 😅 That actually is exactly what the cop said, too. He was handing me the ticket and I said in the saddest voice possible, “it’s my birthday today…” and his reply, “I understand, ma’am.” That could be the title of the song. It could be a mournful bluegrass tune. 😂 Uh, anyway, thank you, I really look forward to hearing your performance, too, Louisa!! 😊

johanna2509ParticipantHi all!
For this challenge, I looked through my favorites and chose Hope. The tune is so beautiful! 😊 I learnt it back then when it was released, and I relearned it for this month.
This time, I took a different approach to recording. After warming up and feeling confident to record, I imagined myself performing the song on a stage in one take. Usually, I stop when I make a mistake and try again. But this time, I wanted to play through the mistakes as if nothing had happened.
Of course, I did make a mistakes, I had a slight brain freeze and almost played the wrong chord. However, I continued playing all the way through to the end.
This also saved me from trying over and over again until I got a clean recording. 😅So here it is. 😊

Hello friends!
For this month’s challenge, I chose “Maybe I’m Still Amazed,” written by Andrew.
I absolutely love this song, and fingerstyle on a Low G ukulele is one of my favorite ways to play.Learning this piece came with its fair share of challenges. One of them was the lack of muscle strength in my left hand, so I practiced daily to build that up. I also worked on improving my fretting accuracy to reduce buzzing, and I focused on getting the timing right for the pull-offs and strums.
I wish I’d had more time to practice, but I’m quite happy with how it turned out—even if it took about a hundred takes to get a good recording! This challenge was extra fun because we’re on vacation, and I wanted to include some video footage of the beautiful place we’re staying at.
Hope you’re all having a fantastic summer!

AndrewKeymaster@johanna2509 – That was very well played Johanna! I loved your approach and if you were on stage, you woulda heard this at the end 👏👏 😊
@mickan88 – Your hard work payed off! Flawless performance! Beautiful feel and tone and wow, such a beautifully filmed video to accompany it too! Def gonna share it on our socials this weekend 🙂July 25, 2025 at 6:41 pm #74540
grannieannieParticipant@mickan88 Lovely performance and setting! I was going to play that beautiful piece this month, but found I couldn’t sustain all the barring enough to really practise.
@johanna2509 It’s strangely freeing to allow yourself only one take, isn’t it? But hard to do, even though we know the harsh criticism comes only from ourselves.
@The_Bumble_Bard I can just hear it: “The cop said he understood, so how come he gave me the ticket blues? Don’t he know it’s Mother’s Day?”July 26, 2025 at 4:11 am #74541
mickan88Participant@Andrew Thank you for your kind words!
Of course! What an honor!!! 🥰
@grannieannie Yes, the barr chords are tuff! I’m happy with my recording despite a couple of buzzing strings here and there 😁 I gave it my best and learned a lot along the way.
@gi_gi_ Thank you! Yes this place is a paradise 😍
I agree, my Ukulele sounds lovely, she is all solid Mango, I love the sound of 🥭July 26, 2025 at 7:04 am #74542alojzy_bomba
