gi_gi_ParticipantEveryone’s submissions are great. Loved your amazing performances @Janaq1 @marianne @riley_ukulele. Just outstanding.
@jedart @karenj Those were tough pieces. Nice work.
@the_bumble_bard Love your voice. Both performances were so good. I better pick up my uke tmrow and submit something 😂July 30, 2025 at 8:08 pm #74590ldarrow
ParticipantHave always wanted to learn Evan’s arrangement of Saint James Infirmary. Did not get to start working on this until last weekend. So really need another week on this, but here it is after a few days. I have struggled with E7 chord since I broke my ring finger. Struggle to be able to pull my ring finger back far enough, so much of the time I feel it’s out of tune. But a song like this helps me work on it. Also could not get the F in measure around 46 so changed it a bit. Thanks for listening and any tips. Have enjoyed everyone’s submissions

AndrewKeymaster@janaq1 – Very beautifully played, Jana! Well done 👏
@karenj – Your technique sounds great, as does your banjolele! What a fun song, I really enjoyed listening to it. 🙂
@jedart – I thought you played it very well and great singing too! I’m hearing a couple rhythm sections that could use a little attention. For example, in the first bar of the tune, the second half of that bar is strummed with 8th note triplets. I’m hearing more of a regular 8th note rhythm in your playing. Try looping that bar in the tab player, aiming to match Ashley as close as possible, or alternatively, you could practice alongside a click. But I’d say you’re at the fine tuning stage. I was very impressed overall with your performance! Keep up the great work, Jed!
@riley_ukulele – You played it brilliantly, bravo! I will send your message along to Evan. I’m sure it will mean a lot to him 🙂
@The_Bumble_Bard – I loved both performances! Great uke playing and singing Rachael!
@ldarrow – Your feel was spot on, Linda! I think that’s one of the hardest things to get down with this arr. I see what you mean about the ring finger and the E7 chord. It looks like your fretting on top of the fret a lot of the time. That’s why that note isn’t ringing as best as it can. I’m sure you’ll regain more dexterity in time. But the break DID NOT effect your talent. You’re a great player!July 30, 2025 at 11:35 pm #74592
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_ thank you so much, my friend!! 🥰 It means a lot that you say that since your voice is so beautiful. Haha!! Hurry up!!!! Posting this late is too stressful for me usually, but this month has been several more layers of chaos. 😂 I’m over this year TBH… 😂😭
@Andrew, thank you so much! So glad you loved them. I was very nervous to share the singing video, it means a lot that you liked them both. 😊 Oh I was going to try to play and sing but just ran out of time. Also I’ve barely ever done that before… 😅I think tomorrow I’ll finally have some time to breathe and listen through a bunch of the entries I missed. Really looking forward to seeing what happens with the prize for this challenge. Should be quite entertaining! 😅😊

One of my favorite songs. It seemed impossible to move my fingers to the next chords quick enough at the beginning, but it became more manageable little by little. Still slow and stumbling, but here you go, my version of “Hallelujah”.

jedartParticipantThank you @Andrew, I’ll keep working on it. I don’t know why I’m so resistant to playing with a metronome, but I thinks it’s about TIME 😉

I always wanted to learn Lagrima by Francisco Tarrega after we learned Adelita. Without this challenge I would not have tried it. Thanks @Andrew for keeping us motivated. I have a ways to go on this but here ya go. My harmonics are sometimey

tessiertParticipantYou are so beautiful
It’s not like I’ve ever been a big fan of this particular song, but I just love how this arrangement sounds on a uke! This is also the first time it only took me a handful of tries to get a decent take – woo hoo!
Best,

karenjParticipant@brettboy. I know I’m late to the melon bar party, but I gotta say I totally loved your Severance piece as well as the related comments. I always look forward to your submissions and this month did not disappoint. You had me at the goat photo.

bibileleParticipantHi, here is my attempt at “River flows in you”. I love the song so much and the arrangement is really great. I got mixed up at the end, but I didn’t have the energy to try again. 🙈

diannaParticipantAnother busy month! (Lucky to get a submission in at all) This was a great challenge….I had a lot of fun going thru the Rockclass101 catalogue….so much to chose from! I chose “Freight Train,”….loved the Ukulelezaza arrangement. Still needs work….chord transmission issues and brain farts causing hesitations…..
I have tried to listen to most of the submissions…..great job uke friends!

The_Bumble_BardParticipantHeller again everyone!! I created a separate topic with a reply to every person in this challenge thread! Here is the link to it (if you click that text or you could just go find it in Uke Talk). I hope that’s okay. I explain a bit more in the thread, but didn’t want to clog up this challenge thread. 😂
Edit: Somehow this post created a phantom 8th page with nothing on it. Sorry about that! 😂
