KasiaParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard I love your biblically accurate ukulele ❤️ did the googly eyes affect the sound in any way?

KasiaParticipantWhat ukulele would be good for a low G tuning?
What do you take into consideration when selecting strings for your ukulele?-

KasiaParticipantI’ve had bad luck with this ukulele 🙁 The factory used bad glue for the pickguard and it warped. I asked for a replacement and the replacement ukulele had the exact same problem. But in the meantime I also received some unexpected funds 🙂 So I decided to change my plan entirely and instead of a concert, I’m going to purchase this tenor for about 400 EUR:

KasiaParticipant@misterbones this is so awesome, now I feel tempted to drop whatever I was practicing and sign up for ragalele 😀 I’m waiting for your next ragas!

KasiaParticipantUpdate 1:
I’m halfway through Module 3 of the Definitive Beginner’s Guide.
I can play part A of “The Path of the Wind” fluently at a slow pace, part B is still challenging.
I added “Happy Birthday” to my goals because there are two birthdays important to me in January. The first one was on the 2nd and I made a recording for that person – imperfect and very slow, but here it is 😀
KasiaParticipant@janaq1 I bought a cheaper one, but I think it’s going to be better than the price suggests – Flight Iris:

KasiaParticipant@misterbones I love this! It’s going to be my goal too when I pass the beginner stage <3 Please let me know how difficult it was 🙂
Btw I recommend Bandish app for backing tracks, it’s a virtual shruti box that I use for vocal improvisation, I think you will like it.
KasiaParticipantAnother idea: Indian Raga!
Unfortunately most ukulele raga tutorials on the internet are in languages I don’t understand 🙁
This one here looks very advanced, I’m pasting it because it’s beautiful. But I’m sure there are some easy ragas that can be adapted for beginner/intermediate players for slides practice.
KasiaParticipantHow about some Calypso?
For example Matilda (for singing, with some fingerstyle or interesting strumming patterns added to it) or something less well known with funny lyrics, maybe this song, with some percussive elements?
Or this one:

KasiaParticipant1. Execution
My three goals for January are:
– to complete the Definitive Beginner’s Guide
– to learn to play “Path of the wind” from Totoro while focusing on holding the ukulele properly and not like a guitar
– to remember I’m doing this for fun and defeat negative thoughts like “it’s too late, I’m too old and I’m only making a fool of myself”
By the end of the month I want to be an intermediate beginner 😉2. Application
I want to dedicate some time every day to playing the ukulele and write down what I practiced and for how long. Before the end of the month I want to record myself playing at least part A of the song from Totoro.I will not judge myself if I fail. I will not stop playing the ukulele because of negative thoughts about myself. If I want to give up, I will ask for support on the forum.
3. Evaluation
I’m going to post updates on my progress every week in this thread.December 20, 2024 at 11:32 pm in reply to: Participate in the December 2024 Member Challenge – WIN $3,100 Kanile’a #64984
KasiaParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
I didn’t think I would make it because I forgot the deadline was today 😀 but here it is!
I enjoyed learning to play this piece. It reminds me of my choir times, we used to sing it in Latin as “Adeste fideles” 🙂Happy holidays!
KasiaParticipantI missed it, but I’ll try next month 🙂
