    Hello ukulele fellows!

    Woah, what great entries and amazing progressions of you all! I really like the community here. Very kind and I get a lot of inspiration what to practice.

    My goal was to learn some percussion on ukulele. While I reached my first milestone to perfom like in Andrews tutorial video in the middle of this month, I wanted to learn more and play a complete song.

    So here it is. Its a song of a famous Band from my hometown here in germany. You can have a guess 😉
    (I tried out the low-G string on my “backup” ukulele. It fits to this song I guess)

    Hi Andrew,

    finished my monthly goal to learn percussive ukulele today.

    Here is my last video to this song, I think its quite okay:

    I changed the strumming a little bit. Instead of only doing the snare with the index finger I tried to use the “flick” (down + index finger at the same time) which I’ve learned from other tutorial videos. So this song sounds much faster now.

    Next week I’ll try other percussive songs. Does anybody have some ideas? 🙂

    @rickeymike Thanks! Try to improve day by day. I dont hate time to practice every day, but when I am practicing then for 2 or 3 hours 😉

    Day 4: Here are my latest results. I think I am getting close!

    By the way: Thanks to all other participants. You are doing great aswell. Now I get a lot new ideas what to practice in the next month 🙂
    Have fun!

    Third day of pracitce:
    Tried to combine strumming, chucking and percussion with the thumb.

    C – Am – Em – G

    Strumming: T – U – C – U and T – DUD – C – DUD

    T = Thumb (base drum)
    D = Down
    U = Up
    C = Chuck

    @Andrew Thanks for your advice to my last video. I think I mastered it to add backbeat an 2 and 4.
    But its kinda boring to post another video of it so I want to show new stuff I’ve learned the last days.

    I practiced to do some percussion style on ukulele. Like base drum, snare and flick.
    You can see my progression in this video.
    Fortunately the microphone of my mobile phone is pretty bad so the percussions sounds quite nice I think 😀

    Day 1: This evening I had a first try. Learned a little bit to add a backbeat to a melody like in this video from andrew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTD_h3HAXcU. I know its far from perfekt, but I will work hard on it in the next few days. Hope to show you my further development soon! 🙂

    Hi, I am Immi from germany so excuse me for my not perfect english: I am playing ukulele several years by now but never as intense as in the last month. I can do a lot of strumming patterns and fingerpicking and I got a large variety of chords. I am not able to sing at all, so I think just strumming alone is a little bit boring. This is the reason why:

    1. Execution: My goal for January is to study to add drum like percussion to my play like in this video:

    These Tutorial Videos from rockclass101 are really nice. Andrew is a genius! I’ve learned a lot of him recently.
    This challenge has inspired me to work really hard on this.

    2. Application: I will watch several tutorial videos on youtube and learn some easy percussion before I’ll try to practice with the video. Every day a little bit until I master it.

    3. Evaluation: I will try to comment this threat to update you and myself about my steps going forward. Anyways, will show my results to my flatmates and let them judge if I am getting better or not. I really think, that I can do it but it needs a lot of time.

    Great, I am happy to start the challenge!
    Have fun all with yours!
