August 2, 2024 at 4:01 pm #62730gi_gi_ParticipantGlad to hear Ashley’s take on the “Friends’ song. I like that it’s less than a minute long ☺️
Congrats to @Ashley on her bundle of joy ❤️💞❤️💞❤️💞August 3, 2024 at 11:35 am #62781The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_ ohhh that’s so precious! Congrats to Ashley! 😁💕
I really liked her version of that song, too. 😊
I think I’ll probably go with The Office theme just because my sister and her husband are obsessed with that show and then maybe I can eventually play it for them. It may take me longer than a month to learn it well though because it seems pretty tricky. That, or the Game of Thrones theme because that one’s a real bop. 😉😂
Edit: Just went to go look at the lesson and noticed The Office theme includes ghost note strumming. 😶 I’m still going to try it though. 😅
Edit x 2: I tried playing through The Office theme and boy is that satisfying to play. I recommend that one if anyone likes that theme. It’s tricky, but not as impossible as it seems. 😂 Okay, done excessively updating now… 😂🤐

August 10, 2024 at 5:12 pm #62842emilianoParticipantThis month’s choice was a no-brainer for me. As a huge fan of The Office (well, maybe not the later seasons as much), I just had to go with this iconic cover. It’s such a fun song to learn!
I am a premium member.
August 11, 2024 at 2:50 pm #62870lucaukaParticipantI decided to play the Office theme! I was initially put off by it having a “level 3” difficulty, but I like the show, and its theme song, so I decided to give it a try anyway. I think that it also helped that I had previously worked on learning the “Margaritaville” cover here on Rock Class 101 – it also has hammer-ons, many of the same chord shapes, and a lot of quick movements up and down the fretboard.
I was originally planning to record a video later this month so I could get some more practice in – and I know that this video is pretty rough with weird timing changes, a muted string, and a point where I pause – but I realized a couple of days ago that today marks 100 days since I bought my Ukulele. So, since I always like watching progress videos and that feels like a milestone, I thought it would be cool to try to record it now as an example of what 100 days of learning looks like. I’ll keep practicing and if I think I improve by leaps and bounds I’ll post a newer video later in the month 🙂
August 13, 2024 at 3:59 pm #62929The_Bumble_BardParticipant@emiliano, perf take on that one! Lovely to listen to! 😊
@lucauka, really lovely playing! I also have issues with pauses for sure if I’m at all taking time to “process” what I’m doing or what comes next. 😂 Congrats on 100 days o’ uke playing! My uke’s birthday was last month, I think he’s 4 or 5 but I’ve only been consistently playing for the last 3 years or so. I didn’t get him a cake though…! 😂🥺😶 This can be fixed… 😅August 14, 2024 at 4:33 pm #62935emilianoParticipantThanks @The_bumble_bard! Have you watched The Office? It’s such a hilarious show. I’d love to see your take on it too!
@lucauka Happy 100 days! 🎉 The key is to have fun and enjoy the journey. What kind of music do you enjoy? I’m mostly into OSTs and video game music.August 14, 2024 at 6:04 pm #62938leb397ParticipantGreat start @emiliano. Glad you are getting your new uke soon. @lucauka congrats on 100 days. I’m impressed with how far you have come. Nicely done.
I hope to post my entry soon.
@ruthie-roo thank you for the July compliments. I really like blues music and playing it on the uke is extra fun.
@the_bumble_bard I think our ukes birthday playing is about the same time frame. Took a year off during covid when we moved from our home of 47 years… lots of stuff you get rid off.
Ok, lets see if I can post my entry. LouisaAugust 14, 2024 at 6:26 pm #62940leb397ParticipantHere’s what I have for Hawaii Five-O. Maybe someday I can get it cleaner and up to speed. Like Stephen said in his lesson – lots of tricky parts. Busy August.
LouisaAugust 15, 2024 at 9:18 am #63042deadbuggyParticipantSuch a fun arrangement!
August 15, 2024 at 1:26 pm #63105leb397Participant@deadbuggy loved it!
August 15, 2024 at 1:30 pm #63106lucaukaParticipant@The_bumble_bard Thank you! Wow, that’s really inspiring that you’ve been able to consistently play for three years- I hope I can stick with it for that long too 🙂 I hope that your uke has a very happy birthday haha
@emiliano Thank you! I’m definitely having fun so far, how long have you been playing the uke for? I listen to a little bit of everything – which definitely includes OSTs and video game music 🙂 Do you have any favorite songs to play on the Ukulele?
@leb397 Thank you! I really liked your rendition of the Hawaii Five-O song! I haven’t watched the show, but the tune is so iconic and I think you did a great jobAugust 15, 2024 at 3:20 pm #63111kittycatlinParticipantI love SpongeBob! Even wore a SpongeBob shirt (it’s hard to tell in the video though lol)
August 15, 2024 at 5:45 pm #63115The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397, that was an epic take of that one!! Really lovely playing! I’ve never seen that show but I love that theme. Well done! 😊 It’s pretty dang cute that our ukes have about the same birthday for being played! 😂 That’s pretty crazy about your move. That’s a long while to live in one place. I started playing uke also after a big move and around quarantine time. I also thought that I shouldn’t be playing uke because I thought for some reason singing while playing was necessary. 😂 So I stopped for a while. And I didn’t know what I was doing literally at all until I found RC101. That was kind of a turning point for me because I also learned how beautiful the ukulele community is and that made me love playing uke even more. 😊💕
@deadbuggy, that was epic! That song is such a bop! Haha I like your acting at the beginning. 😉😂
@emiliano, haha yes, I have seen The Office and it is hilarious! I haven’t watched that much of it but my sister and her husband practically have the show memorized and quote it constantly so I’ve learned a lot about it through that. 😂 I loved the episodes I’ve seen though. I just don’t like to watch TV by myself very much, only with other people. 😂😅 Anyway, hopefully I can do okay with that theme, I haven’t been practicing as much yet! I wonder how much practice everyone puts in during these challenges. Sometimes I only put in a few days, or slowly practice bit by bit over the month. 😂😅😶🤐
@lucauka, haha thank you! The easiest way to play ukulele that long is to love every minute of it and have as much fun as possible. And also continue to challenge yourself which is why I love RC101. All their songs are challenging and fun. 😊 Haha my ukulele says thank you, it’s basically my pet at this point… 😂
@kittycatlin, really lovely playing! You really brought out the sea shanty quality of that song. Nice!! 😁 -
