    @peiching – TY for the kind words, we really appreciate it! Your performance sounded great! From here, I’d work on keeping a consistent tempo throughout. Try practicing one section at a time, playing along with a click or with Steven with the on-screen tab viewer. Start slow and work it up to speed.

    Good choices for this month. I had to go with Hawaii Five-O. (IMHO Jack Lord is the better McGarret.)

    Here’s my August submission of Hawaii Five-0. What a fun song to learn! This is still pretty rough, but I am out of time so this will have to do. I am working hard to focus more on progress rather on all of my mistakes. I wish a happy Labor Day to all in the USA. Thanks again to RC 101 for a great month of music!
    Take care,
    Karen

    So I wasn’t going to take on the August challenge, just lay on the beach and eat hot dogs (that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do), but when I saw that Matt was teaching the theme from The Office, I had to try it. So I took a leave from my job as the Assistant to the Regional Manager, and fortified by my buddy Kevin’s homemade chili, I have been devoting some time to learning this catchy tune. I don’t feel I’ve really captured it, it’s harder than it looks (that’s what she said), but I’ve tried. I couldn’t handle the barre on the 10th fret on my uke, so I tried a different fingering, as well as some melodic liberties in places, tempo assassinations, intonation fumblings, etc. Also, I decided to go electric to try to try to make up for my weak hammer-ons and pull-offs. But Matt had a great lesson, the problems are all on Nobody but Me. Parkour!

    Hi! This month, I worked on Hawaii Five-O. It’s a fun song to end the summer, and it was a big challenge! Thanks for the great lesson!

    Aloha, all. Here is my premium member submission for August.
    The challenge was indeed that.The exercise was a stttrrrreeeetch for me. One area that I wish to improve on is the use of P-I-M-A in my finger-style playing. Steven has made a wonderful arrangement and explains the mechanics clearly including the use of PIMA. While I did practice the tune a lot while trying to be strict about PIMA, that skill is going to require more time and the undoing of old habits. Onward and Upward.
    MAHOLO for all the TV theme submissions. Lots of work,lots of FUN

    @rgillof – Performance sounded great Rich! The only thing I’d do from here is play along with Steven in the tab player. That’ll help smooth it out and keep the tempo steady. Start with one section at a time.

    @karenj
    – Lovely playing Karen! Thank you for the kind words and happy labor day!

    @swissconsinboy
    – That was a fantastic performance, Greg! The tone of your uke is phenomenal. I think practicing with a click could help smooth things out, eliminate any pauses, and keep the tempo steady. It doesn’t seem like it would take much practice either, you’re already so close! Keep up the great work 🙂

    @anyon1
    – Bravo Adriana! This is def one of my fav performances of yours. Tempo and feel were spot on! Very impressive, well done! 👏

    @mysticrick
    – Performances sounded great Rick! As for the fingerpicking, it does look like you rely a lot on the index to do the bulk of the work across strings 1-3. Try this tune. It uses a 4 finger (PIMA) approach. This tune has no strumming, so you’ll get to work on using all 4 fingers for fingerpicking without overcomplicating the right hand by mixing in strumming.

    Hi,

    This month I tried the Game of Thrones theme. Definitely a challenge. I fiddled a bit with the ending — I practice on more than one ukulele and not all had frets as high as the score showed.

    Hi everyone. This is my entry for this month(I’m a premium member). Such a fun song to learn! It’s not perfect, but I did memorize it and wanted to post it so don’t forget. Been a pretty busy summer. Thanks for all the lessons ✌🏻🙂

    Thanks for the kind words and good advice, Andrew!

    I’m very impressed by all of this month’s submissions, especially the Hawaii 5-0 ones. And a special nod to those with split screen videos, like @misterbones and @katazumiri. Got to get a U-bass now!

    And @The_Bumble-Bard, nice work, you made me miss my old cats!
