anyon1ParticipantHi All,
I’ve been working on an arrangement for Fool in the Rain by Led Zeppelin. I wanted to share something now since I will not have much time during the rest of the month.
@otzepeng I love the little carved ukulele! Carving is another hobby of mine, but I’ve yet to carve a uke.–Adriana

henri0ParticipantWeek 2 of finishing off themes I started and dropped: Theme from M*A*S*H. Absolutely love this song and this arrangement, so beautiful and sad as a piece.
Loving watching everyone making creative efforts with this challenge – will push myself to do something a bit more out there for one of the next free for alls. Loved the kalimba piece in particular- in part because I an very keen to buy one. Also really enjoying the progress with your technique @malku2603 – first time I have come across it.

nat-ukeParticipantHi All – This month I wasn’t working on a song or particular playing technique, but was working instead on the TECHNOLOGY side related to music, namely – wireless mic recording and creating a merged video that incorporates multiple video clips (angles/settings) that are all synced up to a single master audio track. I wanted to work on this because I often send little fun songs to family and friends and wanted to ‘up my video game’ a bit. I was also interested in the wireless mic topic because I usually record at my husband’s machine / and his mic and I don’t like that tight space.
I bought the Hollyland Lark M2 combo (which finally arrived). Really like it – very easy to use. For video editing I was going to use iMovie, but it doesn’t do the fun things I was wanting to try, so I created the video using “Final Cut Pro” (Apple product). It is quite pricey. I haven’t purchased it yet, but they have a 90 day trial, so that was nice to be able to test it out to see if I was able to put together something basic or whether it would be too complicated. (It IS complicated, but there’s a lot of help on the web for it). I didn’t do any sound editing in Garage Band – just took a couple of audio takes from the wireless mics and lined them up together for the video.
My objective was a song for friends who have their 65th wedding anniversary this month! I played a strumming version of L-O-V-E. I didn’t do the song justice with the RC101 chord melody and solo parts available, but I was really just wanting to get a very simple strumming/singing type of video because I didn’t have much time before the anniversary.
I learned a lot and although it was frustrating to use new software, I can see how powerful it is. I also think I will really enjoy the new wireless mic. Here’s what I produced. (Haven’t sent to our friends yet)

leb397Participant@nat-uke what a great gift and nice job! I’m so glad you are explaining a bit about the holly land mic. I received mine but haven’t experimented yet. I too want to use my iPad, iMovie so I guess I’ll have to see. It’s not easy learning a new app (at my age). It takes twice as long to absorb or figure what they assume should be obvious. Drives me crazy. Anyway, any more tips, please post. Love to hear from others like @gi_gi_ who has the mic. Louisa

anyon1Participant@malku2603 Thank you for listening and the nice feedback! I’ve enjoyed watching your progress. I have never heard of the dotara technique. Thanks for introducing it to us. It looks very challenging to play, but I like the way it sounds! You’ll get there! Even if you’re not quite up to speed today, it still sounds great!

grannieannieParticipant@johanna2509: What a lovely little instrument! It must take a lot of focus to play a tune with the different configuration of notes – I hope we hear more from you on it.
@malku2603: Thanks for sharing your progress with this style of playing – that’s some complicated picking!
@nat-uke: You’ve made a lovely gift for your friends – I’m sure they’ll be thrilled. You obviously spent a lot of time putting it together – a good learning experience for you!August 22, 2025 at 5:09 pm #75556
lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I finished putting together an arrangement and have been working on fitting the uke and whistling parts together. I also had to learn how to record both microphone and uke pickup onto Garageband on the macbook.
Here’s my version of Una Furtiva Lagrima:

anyon1Participant@lhamilton That was great! As I listened, I felt like there was a mysterious and sad feeling early on, but then it sounded more hopeful. I think you really captured the emotion with your playing and whistling.

gi_gi_Participant@marianne I really don’t think I’m going to be able to post this month. I’ve learned about 90% of Contemplations but I am being pulled in so many directions this month. I just cannot see how Inwill be able yo postnthis month or the next. I will be back in October hopefully. Sorry about that. I love it.
