    Wow, I’m so impressed with all of these early submissions…. @marianne and @Emiliano your standout submissions inspire the rest of us……thanks for showing us how its done and setting the bar high!

    @Emiliano
    , I am working on 12th Street Rag this month also, it will probably take me another 5 years to get it to that level🤪……..for me, just being able to attempt this piece is a huge step forward, and I thank ROC101 and their massive Uke curriculum for this….I did notice that your right hand strumming technique is more like the one taught by Matt in the Next Level Strumming Course……which I believe is a Jake Shimabukuro style……..I’m really impressed by that…..So Cool! You were really in the groove……

    @The_Bumble_Bard
    you inspire me to think outside the box!…..I love how you take a piece and make it your own by applying different techniques……and noodling……very cool and well done!

    @joe150 I enjoyed that. Keep going. Thumbs up 👍🏽

    @the_bumble_bard
    That was great. Oh I loved seeing baby Ukebert and baby Bumble Bard (3 B’s 😆😂☺️). You were trying your hand at doing the tremolo from way back it seems. You’re quite the creative person which is inspiring ☺️.

    This is not for entry — I have enough ukuleles! So glad Ukulele Waltz was among the selections this month. I’ve had the A part memorized for years, but only in the last few months began to work on the B part. Alas, the complete brain fart at the end is not indicative of my mastery of this tune 😉

    @The_Bumble_Bard – Look at you, your first entry going playful with some extra fingerpicking! I’m waiting for the day when my arthritic fingers just move easily around the fretboard – I have no doubt the daily playing is keeping them flexible.

    @deadbuggy
    – Your playing always seems so confident and effortless. May I ask how long you’ve been playing?

    @grannieannie I’ve played string instruments for 50 years; mostly self-taught. As my arthritic hands, fingers and wrists continue a pace, smaller instruments like the uke keep me in a musical happy place. Thanks for the kind words!

    @deadbuggy – Wonderfully played with beautiful tone, Sara! As always, I enjoyed your tasteful and creative changes 🙂

    Here is my version of Blue Skies. Thank you Matt for this beautiful piece and that was a lot of fun to learn! I’ve been a bit behind the 8 ball the past couple of months, so I wanted to get this in early. I now hope to revisit Daybreak that I had learned for a previous challenge. It will be nice to see if I’ve progressed since then. Happy Valentine’s Day for all who celebrate.

    @karenj, really amazing performance of that! So smooth and perfect clarity with each note. That one looks so tricky and complicated, but you play it so seamlessly, really impressive performance! 🥰

    @dianna
    , thank you so much, friend! 🥰 That really means a lot that you say that. I think it’s pretty special how we can all inspire each other here. 😊 You have inspired and encouraged me so many times. I appreciate that so much. I feel like if I have any strengths on uke it’s kind of reinventing already good 😂 existing material, though I think I am (crushingly slowly) getting better at creating my own versions of songs. I think it’s because theory is my greatest weakness with music, so in some ways that does hold me back, maybe. Anyway, thank you again! Looking forward to your entry! 😊🥰

    @gi_gi_
    thank you so much, my friend!! Haha!! We are actually out of control with the nicknames now. 😂😅 Triple B! 😂😅😂 I know, it’s so crazy how much things can change in a pretty short time. So much has happened since then that I never imagined possible because of this sweet little instrument and the friends I’ve made through it. I’m gonna cry, man! 😂 Thank you so much, I can’t even say how much you’ve inspired and encouraged me to do things I never would’ve ever done before, like the open mic. We have another side quest now with that!! 😂🥰

    @grannieannie
    , I just had to “go rogue” again with that song! Thank you, now I’m trying to apply the tremolo to everything, eventually I’ll get better at it that way! 😂 You play very beautifully from what I’ve gotten to hear, I know you’ll only get better and better, too! 🥰

    This is how I’m spending my “love day” 😂 (in part) because the pleasantly distracting plans I had today fell through because of snow (the plans were playing scary video games with my bro and sis which we do semi-quarterly), but I have a lot of love for everyone here, so it works out! 😊🥰

    Also maybe can make some progress on Aura Lee today but no update yet. 😉😂

    @marianne you are an inspiration when I watch you play. So lovely.

    @karenj
    very pretty – and your ukulele sounded so pretty. Is that a new addition – tenor?

    @shmu88
    very nice! Sounds to me like you nailed it. A lot to memorize too.

    @deadbuggy
    crazy you could memorize all that… like shmu88, very nicely performed.

    @the_bumble_bard
    – always a pleasure to see your comments and watch you perform. Love that you took Aura Lea and turned it into your own song. I said before, I really like the tremolo and how you own it. Turn everything into tremolo. Kinda like you did with claw hammer – loved those songs too. Keep doing what you are. We love you on this platform 👍👏❤😊 I finally got to some sunny sky weather. By the time we head north, hopefully the worst of the cold/snow will be past.

    @emiliano
    sure hope you can add to your collection. I love my tenor low G. The sound is so rich, I think. Good luck. Love your playing.

    @shmu88, I’d say that was *much* more than okay and very magical! 😊 Very beautifully played, so impressive! The runs at the end of that song are crazy and you played them perfectly! 😊

    @willw18
    , I couldn’t get your entry to play, sadly. 😕

    @leb397
    , so, so beautiful friend! You captured the feeling behind that perfectly. So glad you’re having some warmer, sunnier days – that you “played about” in that song. 🥰 It’s the opposite here. I think I mentioned we had a blizzard over the weekend in Wisconsin. I won’t lie – that was pretty brutal because it’s like I was “trapped” in Valentine’s Day (S.A.D.) and had to work extra hard to find distractions. 😂 Sorry that was a bit of a tangent… Thank you so much for your encouragement with that! It means so much to me. The tremolo is still really challenging but I’ll keep working on it. And nothing will replace my love of clawhammer. 😂😅 Thank you so much, I love everyone in this group, too, and am so inspired by the incredible talent and creativity of everyone here. Along with the support that has meant so much to me. Ha well, in the North of the Midwest it’s still pretty much the frozen tuna… tundra. 😂😂😅 I let autocorrect have its way for a minute. We are kind of frozen tuna here. 😉😂 But I hope by the time you travel it’s warmed up a bit where you are! Thank you again!! 🥰

    Thank you for your kind words. Yes I’ve seen the weather across the country and you are getting battered. Where we are there are a lot from WI, MN and MI. I always wonder if anyone is left home because it is filled with the white haired snowbird brigade. 😁 I can certainly relate to the tuna tundra (ha) When I did our January challenge the weather was so gloomy. I kinda wrote a song I’ll post some day, … maybe. but I knew the brighter days were ahead with our annual migration. 🦅🚗🌞. The feeling of being trapped with a box of almost empty box cereal, piece of bread and maybe some dated milk…. 😩 Well we all have RC101 !!!!
    Great entries. I could have practiced a bit more to smooth parts but wasn’t sure about internet and ability to record all the time. Thanks
