Unfortunately I kinda failed my goal this month. Things have gone downhill very fast and I wasn’t able to perform for her while she was conscious and I haven’t had many opportunities to practice. I did my best and I hope she heard me. They say the hearing is the last to go. I love her very much, and I thank this community for all the support and allowing me to share this moment of vulnerability without judgement. Thank you all.

    Hi Everybody

I used this challenge to motivate me in getting to grips with Claw Hammer. Ive always found this difficult and have given up every time before getting anywhere.

I used Christophers excellent course this time (only discovered it this month!) and my goal was to play the Claw Hammer Etude, no matter how badly…

Well, I succeeded in playing it very badly, so I’ll score that as success.

Practice was the issue; not enough or consistently – but now I have got over the hurdle of actually getting the basics I will keep this up.

PS – I had a great excuse this month. I have been gifted a second grandson, a brother to my granddaughter!

    Time’s up! Here’s how this month went…

I can now confidently play the chord with 1st fret on the G string, 1st fret on the C string, open E string, and 7th fret on the A string. Still tons of room for improvement, though! My harmonics aren’t always consistent, and I want my position shifts to feel smoother and sound softer.

That said, this challenge has been really fun and a great way to train my left hand to reach and form positions I don’t normally play. Definitely stepping out of my comfort zone!

I’m not very happy about my performance because of limited time to practice this month but hey! The important thing is that I did learn a new piece and it was fun. I did learn a few new other things along the way.
I’m impressed by all the amazing performances of everyone! Well done you all! Good luck! 🍀

@jbmills07 I can’t stop crying. That was such a loving and touching dedication. Your love for Regina is so beautiful. No doubt she heard and felt your love and appreciated all you’ve done for her. Sending a big hug and lots of prayers my friend 💕💕💕.

    Hi everyone,
here is my last minute entry for this challenge. My goal was to master harmonics and learn “Amazing Grace”. I failed with the tapping, so I use only the other technique. You need maximum volume to listen to this. 😉

@jbmills07 I’m sure I’m not the only one who shed tears with you as you played that heartfelt song for Regina. Thank you for opening up to this group – it can’t have been easy. You’re going through some profound feelings, and all you can do is feel them as deeply as you can, cry when you need to, and hold her hand to let her know you’re with her. Warm hugs.

    Hi, everyone!
You’re all doing a great job. I enjoy watching your submissions.

I managed to finish my very first chord melody arrangement. I had a lot of work with the notation software, it took me many hours. The last edit to the notation and tablature was made today when I noticed that the number of beats in one measure didn’t match.
I was able to practice the song with an orchestra. I found a great version of the song on YT by Melody Makers. All I had to do was put the capo on the first fret and I could play along. Only my overture is shorter. 😉 The link to their performance is below my YT video. There is also a link to the sheet music with tablature.
Overall, learning the song helped me practice double (triple) stops, which I still struggle with, and also rhythm – I couldn’t have played it well without a metronome.
I know you don’t know the song, but I hope you enjoy listening to it at least a little.

    This was fun…

    Early January, Bb was rough

After weeks of practice, it was smoother

In a song it sounds like this

    This will take more practice.

    Good Evening All:

Here is my performance piece Lagrima that I was working on this month. Not perfect (or even close) but…
    Enjoy 🙂

Hi, after Andrew noted me about the left-hand technique, it was an eye-opening experience because somehow I was trying to do the technique #1 with the left thumb behind the neck all the time. I’m not sure where I got the wrong information. So, I was going through the correction and am still working on it.

Here is the link to my latest Fingerpicking Etude. Excuse me about the whiny noise in the background, which I didn’t realize my dog was behind the door.

    Thanks!

Here is my entry, “Dream a Little Dream”, I did the best I could to memorize but it’s not perfect! But I did feel like I was playing music! I will continue to work on this and perform for a live open mic in February.

    Dear Justin,
Thank you for sharing your performance for Regina with us, it was beautiful and heartbreaking. I have no doubt that Regina heard it and knows you are by her side. Though we are far and wide here at RC101, we are holding you close. Sending hugs and hope that you can find solace somehow in the midst of this pain.
    Thinking of you,
    Jody
