    Hi everyone,

    I had to go buy a Low G ukulele (finally) for this one…hope it’s worth it! Here’s “Where is my mind?”

    Cheers

    @leb397, thank you so much! I really love the sound of that electric uke so much, too, and am so grateful to have won it from here! 😊 I need to play it more. Maybe I can find a way to balance the weight of it better. Oh and I knew Where Is My Mind before but just didn’t love it until I heard Steven’s version. Your take of Dream A Little Dream was so lovely! You played it perfectly! 😊💕 Bar chords are tricky, I used to struggle with those a lot more but made a point to use them whenever possible while playing uke, and now I love to use them. 😅 I almost would say I prefer to use them over fretting with individual fingers. To me they’re more comfortable now because I’m used to playing with them. That might make me a freak but that somehow just happened that way by making a point to play them whenever possible. Anyway, very lovely take on that one! 😁💕

    , really lovely playing on that one! Pretty much a perfect performance! You really nailed the fancy section with the trills. 😊

    , I did a bit of looking through the Internet about straps for guitars and ukuleles and what might work best for females since we’re built differently from guys and often have trouble with holding stringed instruments securely and comfortably.

    Based on what I found, I’ve double-strapped some of my ukes, attaching one strap from the headstock to the end of the body, and one from the bottom to the top of the body. I attach the two straps loosely together using bits of cord to prevent them tangling. I’ve found this arrangement works well for my Flight electric uke.

    Hi everyone!
    This month I decided to tackle “Where Is My Mind?” – I love the melody, for me personally it sounds a bit pensive but also sweet at the same time! I had some issues with it, because when I play my Low G Uke and I (quickly) let go of the string, it makes a sound which can be quite annoying sometimes 😅

    I couldn’t get around doing a recording of “Dream A Little Dream of Me” as well – it was the first Jazz song I listened to when I was 11, and I remember being absolutely in love with Michael Bublé’s version of it 😍 You might notice that I did vary some things, but I was having so so much fun playing it! 😇

    Thanks so much for listening! Rafaela ✨

    @lhamilton, oh thank you for the suggestion! That’s a really good idea to use two straps, I never thought of that! I can’t exactly picture where you would attach the second strap though. Or do you mean they would be both positioned the way the straps normally are, except there are two of them? Do you have that setup in your videos playing the Flight electric uke? Thanks so much for your idea! It’s so true that ukes aren’t necessarily naturally suited for women, especially, to play. I’ve had that thought before, but thought it might be too controversial / awkward to bring up, but it’s just so true. 😂

    @The_Bumble_Bard,

    Here is how it works. The second strap I don’t force around the strap pin at the top of the body since two straps are usually too much for the pin. Instead I use a bit of cording below the first strap attached to the head pin.

    @lhamilton, oh sweet! Now that makes perfect sense. Thank you! 😊 I think I may even have everything now to rig that up, including an extra strap, and little velcro loopy things that you use for organizing cords. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your idea! 😁💕

    @abster
    , that was absolutely beautiful! Amazing job as always from the young gentleman! 😊

    Here is my entry for the May challenge, Clocks. I also wanted to thank everyone who posted their entries for “Where is My Mind”– because of those I can finally wrap my head around that song and am working hard on it. The first time I heard it when reviewing this month’s challenge songs I didn’t quite follow the melody. But each time I listened it made more sense and now I really want to be able to play that beautiful song. Cheers!
