So many beautiful entries this month! @gi_gi_ I loved your play through of “Clocks,” that was so, so good! 🙂 @marianne, such a beautiful take on that one! Your performances are always so perfect. 🙂
I chose Where Is My Mind? this month. Such an amazing arrangement by Steven. Honestly, even though I didn’t like the original song very much, I became pretty obsessed with his uke version of it. No joke, I probably watched his performance……… maybe 50 times, I’m not okay, lol. I just love how he plays it and I love his version of the song, especially the feeling behind it.
I probably started practicing way too late. I only finished learning it this weekend, and only started playing it on my tenor electric uke today. :S Before that, I had been practicing and learning it on my soprano high g and concert high g, just because it’s hard for me to play with the electric uke for extended periods because of the weight of the uke.
Nonetheless, I am *definitely* keeping this song in my regular playing rotation because it’s an amazing song.
Thank you so much for these challenges and for creating such wonderful arrangements and lessons! 🙂
(The thumbnail is a drawing I did to test out a pen tablet I got, but it’s a little janky, lol.)

gi_gi_Participant@The_Bumble_Bard That intro is hilarious 🤣🤣😆 I thought some Drewmpa Loompas were gonna jump across your screen at the end. I was waiting for it. Rofl 🤣🤣🤣
Nice job on yours and you did it in only a few days? Brava! Thanks for the compliment on my submission. I knew Drew was gonna get me for that dead note 😬 I didn’t have a problem with it all month or even today. My finger just wasn’t working the bar chord that day and I didn’t want to prolong it so I just submitted it. Cool electric uke you won. It’s purty.
Your drawing is fantastic. I love it. You’re so talented.-

emilianoParticipantThis month has been really long, haha. On the upside, I got my new ukulele. However, at the beginning of the month, the ukulele got stuck in customs, and there was a possibility they might dispose of it due to some import laws here in Mexico.
Getting back on track with the music, I chose “Clocks”. Matt’s version was really amazing, so I wanted to use it as a starting point and incorporate another one of Matt’s lessons, his strumming course, and the “Crossing Hemispheres” lesson for some inspiration to add a bit to my interpretation. I hope it’s okay and still considered a valid entry.
I just really enjoy Matt’s lessons, haha.

gi_gi_Participant@emiliano That was absolutely incredible. Wow! Love your own rendition and spin on Clocks. Just awesome. What kind of uke are they holding captive from you? So sorry about that. Too bad you couldn’t get it through Customs.

emilianoParticipantHello @gi_gi_ Gigi, nice to meet you! o/ Thank you for your kind words!
Is the uke I’m holding in the video(Enya E6). Since it’s not available for purchase here in Mexico, I had to contact Enya directly and have it shipped via UPS. When it arrived in Mexico, it was held in customs for almost a month because an expert in wood needed to inspect it.
But finally, it arrived at my house this past Thursday. I’m still getting used to it; before this one, I only had a plastic Enya ukulele. The bridge on this wooden uke is wider, and the action is a bit higher. However, the sound is really good, and I’m loving it a lot.

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@emiliano, holy crud, that was absolutely amazing! Agreed with @gi_gi_, that was incredible, mind-blowing, man! :O I hope Matt gets to see that; I’m sure he’d love it and be super impressed! 😀
@gi_gi_ hahaha!! Oh my gosh, that was an opportunity missed!! Well, there’s still time. Rest assured, the Drewmpa Loompas WILL exist, one way or the other. ;)🤣🤣Thank you so much for your kind words, my friend! 🙂 Well, I was only playing parts of it for a week or so, then I learned the rest of it. That’s probably not how you’re suppose to do it. 🤣 I was playing the fancy part a lot on my little soprano high g because I really enjoyed that part, and also the intro. I had a lot of trouble memorizing the verse of that song, for some reason, which is why that’s the roughest part, I think. Also, it sounded weird on my high g, so when I started playing it on the low g tenor, it was like playing it for the first time, lol. Thank you, I love that electro-uke; I really need to play it more often. (Edit: listening back to my performance, for whatever reason, it kind of sounds like on a piano keyboard when they have the “car horn” synthesizer. Really terrible… 🤣 Maybe I’ll get another take on my concert high g, just to show that it doesn’t sound like complete and utter trash always, LOL.) Thank you about the drawing! I have better ones than that, but I don’t want to go too off the rails again. 🤣
This month went by so fast, good luck to everyone who’s still working on submitting and great work by everyone! 😀

emilianoParticipantThank you very much, @The_Bumble_Bard! It’s nice to meet you! o/
I’ve been part of this site since 2020, but I mostly lurk rather than post. I just started posting again last month because work has been really demanding over the past few years.
By the way, your high G, low G, baritone poem was featured by Matt in his low G, baritone ukulele comparison lesson 😀

The_Bumble_BardParticipantNice to meet you as well, @emiliano! 🙂
Oh nice! This July, it’ll be two years since I joined RC101, which is kind of crazy. That’s really nice that you’re able to join in more now, your playing is really, really amazing! 🙂
Haha! Do you mean the live lesson video about baritone versus high g/low g? Matt pretty much always, very kindly, reads my ramblings during the live lesson (because they always create a post every month here where you can write your questions/comments and Matt will read them) and it’s so much fun. Ha, I was pretty pleased with that poem, especially since I didn’t work on it as long as some. 😂

Here’s my rendition of Dream a Little Dream of Me. Full disclosure: I actually did this song a few years ago for an earlier challenge – I hope that doesn’t disqualify me!
But I think my playing has improved since then. Also to freshen it up from my earlier attempt, I’ve added a four-bar intro and some fills, and a different voicing for the final chord.

Hello everyone,
I enjoy watching your submissions. From now on, I’ll recognize Clocks and Where is My Mind when I hear them on the radio. 😀
I chose a song that I really like and know very well: Dream a Little Dream of Me. It’s the second song I learned here on RC101, so I’ve had it as my pocket song for 4 years now. But now I have a reason to record it. I focused on really playing the melody notes with my thumb. And I tried adding a little intro and mini-outro to the arrangement.

leb397Participant@janaq1 love the swing feel of your entry. I’m about to post mine and makes me want to try your version. Very nice. @emiliano so cool you jazzed that up. Happy you receive your new Uke in time to play it.
So many good entries of Clocks and Where is my mind. @The_bumble_bard love when you play your electric Uke That sounded great with Where is my mind. Wasn’t familiar with that song before they added to RC and now I’ll remember. @marianne – always amazing feel. @gi_gi_ nice job. I thought you played it perfectly.
There were other standouts early in the challenge = niceHappy Summer season everyone. Anxious to see the June challenge. I just bought a second hand (like new) AnueNue tenor low G. Ready to play a low G song soon 8) Louisa
